With the unveiling today of the LG G8 ThinQ, T-Mobile released a typically insane unboxing video for the phone. Starring the carrier's Director of creative content, Desmond Smith, the video is titled "Undercover Unboxing" and takes on the feel of a Mission Impossible movie. Des shows off some of the features of the LG G8 ThinQ, including its 6.1-inch QHD+ display, the dual camera setup in back (12MP + 16MP wide angle), and the two color options available (Aurora Black and Carmine Red). And yes, the phone does have a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Des delivers all of this information as he is attached to a cable from the top of the room, lowered down to the table where the box containing the LG G8 ThinQ rests. Des also snaps a selfie using the 8MP front-facing camera that also is employed for the phone's facial recognition system. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the back of the device. In addition, LG has added a hand unlock feature that reads your palm to unlock the phone. And no, it doesn't predict your future.

Des also shows off the air gestures feature on the LG G8 ThinQ that allows users to navigate the device by making hand movements in the air. Answer a call, take a screenshot and open favorite apps like YouTube without having to touch the display.

Will LG be able to gain some ground on Samsung this year? Maybe we can get the answer from a psychic who can read our palm in a different way than the LG G8 ThinQ does.
