Star Wars app coming to Verizon customers at light speed

Considering all of the excitement that was brought on by the Motorola DROID 2 R2-D2 special (and limited) edition, Verizon has decided to offer a special Star Wars app for Big Red's customers only. This special app is something that we reported on recently, and will contain pictures, live wallpapers, widgets and even some trivia contests. The app is expected to launch this Monday, October 4th, for $2.99 and Verizon customers will be able to find it in the carrier's section of the Android Market.

In the meantime, you might notice that the handset running the Star Wars live wallpaper in the video below is an EVO 4G, certainly not a Verizon branded handset. That is because the guys over at Xda -developers have the APK files that you can install using a file explorer like "ASTRO browser." Once that is done, you can activare the wallpaper just like you normally would do.
