Sony shares list of Xperia devices that will get Android 8.0 Oreo

Today was certainly Sony's big day — at its pre-IFA event earlier today, the company unveiled three new smartphones: the Xperia XZ1, XZ1 Compact, and XA1 Plus, along with a slew of other consumer electronics not related to smartphones. And while the flagship XZ1 duo stands out from the rest of the crowd in several key areas, one of their most important features is that they'll ship with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.

And sure, this is great and all, but what about the rest of the company's lineup? Well, Sony Mobile has just published the list of its handsets which will receive the upgrade to Oreo, which goes as follows:

And while there's some pretty big omissions (the Xperia XA and XA Ultra are a great example), none is more glaring that that of the Xperia L1, a device launched 3 months and 20 days ago. Sure, it's the least impressive Xperia device by far, but abandoning it pretty much immediately after its release is just shameful.

No concrete release dates have been given out for any of the above devices yet, so users should make sure to regularly check for new updates — though if your device is more than a year old, we wouldn't hold our breath for a speedy release.

I remember when I had my Z3 compact and I was so excited that it was on the list of phones to receive Lollipop, I waited 4 months after that list was released and for a near stock experience that's extremely poor.

We already know it's just another massively boring phone from Sony. Can you guys cut down some unnecessary articles which bring nothing but confusion to readers here? A global page should focus only on premium reliable brands like Samsung, LG. Remember this quality >> quantity

If there's one word to describe Sony, it must be reliable (because of the excellent build quality and stable and responsive software).

PA refused to report on Sony Mobile's financial reports for a few quarters (they do it for every other OEM..) but they made a profit, so I wouldn't call them failed.http://www.xperiablog.net/2017/08/01/sony-mobile-sees-profits-up-in-q1-2018-ships-3-4-million-smartphones/ I'm scared about the XZ1 sales though.

It's a fail yet you still ignore it. Sony went from Samsung competitor to nearly a dead company sold many of its divisions. It isn't even in the top 10 list of mobile companies and the list go on. Be an ignorant as much as you want but it doesn't change the fact that Sony is going down gradually and soon it will close down it's mobile division.
