Sony is giving away a number of freebies with the Sony Xperia Z2 as the flagship launches in India
The Sony Xperia Z2 has launched today in India at a price of 49,900 Rupees ($834 USD). Those purchasing the Japanese manufacturer's flagship smartphone directly from Sony's site, will be entitled to a few goodies. Tossed into the box along with your Xperia Z2, will be a Sony SmartBand SWR10. The latter will alert you when you have a call and can act as a control for media playback on your phone. And with the use of a special Android app, you can record all of your social, physical and entertainment activities. You can even set target goals for exercising, and see how close you came to meeting them. That is a 5000 Rupee ($84 USD) value. Not bad for starters.

Sony is also throwing in a premium flip cover for the Xperia Z2, that is valued at 2990 Rupees ($50 USD). This cover can also be used as a stand that gives you a favorable angle for watching movies on your phone. A 6-month subscription to Sony Music is included as well. Sony is also giving away 50GB of Box cloud storage to those purchasing the handset.

Even though the unit has an IP 58 certification protecting the handset from dust and water, there still is the possibility that the phone can get damaged. All it takes is an accidental drop to crack the screen, which is why Sony is also including 6 free months of Accidental Damage Coverage. Lastly, those purchasing the Sony Xperia Z2 in India directly from Sony, will receive 3500 Rupees ($58 USD) worth of eBooks from Flipkart.

Back in March, when the phone launched in Taiwan, Sony gave out a free digital noise cancelling headset and a magnetic charging dock. By the time the device is available in the states, who knows what freebies Sony will be including with the handset.

Thanks for the tip, Aman

I dont get these craze of flip covers. Most of them are not magnetic, and they are pain to hold while in landscape.

I like them because they protect the screen when needed but then when I actually use the phone there is nothing but air between me and the glass.

Yea, that makes sense. I can go both ways regarding the case covers. Although larger phones, makes more sense to have the covers.

After anaylsing Zauba import data Of Sony(z,z1,zr,z ultra,z2,t2 ultra) and samsung(s3,s4,s4 mini, note 2,note 3) flagship phones- I find that Samsung and Sony sold there flagships in india almost double its orignal price. If this logic applied on Sony Xperia Z2. Orignal price of z2 = 20621 INR After double this price =41242 INR

I dont think it will sell well in the country. The GS5 is already available at about 40k (street price). And Samsung has a much stronger brand value than Sony. Also the major selling point i.e. waterproofing is now no exclusive to sony handsets.

I applaud Sony... I guess. I don't know if they will do the same in the US. But if you are going to RAPE the customer with outrageous prices... At least throw in some relevant accessories. There is just something extra special about opening up the casing for your new phone and seeing model specific accessories. Shows that the manufacturer cared a bit (not really as most everything is mass produced and used universal use) but still... you feel a bit warmer inside. At least for me.

common guys, wait for 1 month and the price will reduce to 45K to 46K definitely, atleast that is the way the prices declined for Z and Z1(i got for 36.5K under cashback offer on flipkart after 1month of release) and you will be getting cashback offers on flipkart over some credit, debit cards, u can grab it for 40K if lucky. But its not as worse as HTC one M7, whose price is still 40000(not selling well though here). Sony phones price will reduce very soon unlike samsung and htc. be patient !!!
