Social networking sites dominate mobile web pageviews
Having a data plan definitely has its advantages – not only is it a great way to kill time surfing on the web on your mobile phone, but it’s also widely used specifically to check out social networking sites. That’s exactly what a good chunk of mobile web users are doing out there – either by consistently updating their status on Facebook or tweeting on Twitter. According to mobile metrics startup Ground Truth, a new firm that analyzes anonymous data given to them directly by US carriers, more than 60 percent of mobile web pageviews are to social networking sites. The obvious things are there; such as the amount of time one has to go through to check out every last detail about their friends – from photo albums to statuses, it’s all there. From the looks of it, Myspace and Facebook ranks numbers one and two on the list of highest pageviews according to Ground Truth. When people aren’t killing time on either of those two major social networking sites, they’re busy on Google looking stuff up – we wouldn’t be too surprised if it had to do with social networking.
