Skyfire slams the brakes on its BlackBerry app
And just like that, Skyfire for BlackBerry saw an early demise as a blog post released today made it clear that the company slammed the brakes and stopped all of its development for the platform. In reality, we've seen the early stages of the app since last summer when an alpha version was finally made available – and at that time, BlackBerry owners were delighted with the smell of a potential official version down the road. Fast forward to the present day and we've heard nothing but news about Skyfire's development for the Android platform – undoubtedly the rush of its popularity looks quickly became apparent for Skyfire to quickly develop an app. And that's where it all ends as BlackBerry users will now have to wait for possibly BlackBerry OS 6.0 to see Skyfire once again take interest – interestingly enough, they cite a poor developer environment with fragmented APIs. As much as we'd like to say that it's on hold indefinitely, it looks pretty promising that Skyfire for BlackBerry will have to wait.
