Samsung releases Android Oreo Beta 3 for US Galaxy S8 and S8+

The third beta build of Android Oreo for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ is now making its way to the US. Stateside users who have signed up for the program can check if the update is available by going to Settings > Software Updates > Download Updates Manually

The latest beta version introduces the ability to hide the "apps running in the background" notification and a plethora of bug fixes. That's great news, as Oreo Beta 2 wasn't exactly very stable. You can see the lengthy changelog displayed to the right.

The third Galaxy S8 Oreo beta build was first introduced to users in the UK about a week ago. The two patches are very similar, but, from what we can see, the US version contains a few extra fixes. This could be attributed to the fact that Samsung is selling S8 units powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset in the States, while their UK counterparts come with the Samsung-made Exynos 8895.

The beta is currently only available to users in the USA, UK, and South Korea, but there will be a second phase of the program that will add six additional markets - Germany, Spain, France, Poland, India, and China.

Want to join the beta program? Here are the conditions - in the US, you need to have an unlocked, Sprint, or T-Mobile version of the Galaxy S8/S8+ in order to partake. In case you're a UK resident, an unlocked variation of either device would suffice. If that's covered, then simply grab either the Samsung Members or Samsung+ apps and enlist your device in the beta; it's available on the Play Store and on Samsung's own Galaxy Apps.

After you install the latest update, feel free to share your impressions in the comments section below.
