Samsung Gear S3 review: 10 key takeaways

We have just reviewed the Samsung Gear S3 frontier and found it to be one of the best smartwatches that you can currently buy.

Unlike many other smartwatches, this one does not look geeky or weird in any particular way. Quite the opposite in fact, it looks like a classic masculine watch and if you look from afar you might even not notice it is 'smart' in any way.

That is a good thing: a watch is a statement of style as much as it is about function for many. We've spend more than a week with the watch and have the full review up, but if you only have time for a quick glance, here are the 10 key takeaways, our most important conclusions about the Gear S3.

As an early adopter of it, I can say it's 9.9 out of 10. It has no discernable weaknesses, is pleasing to look at, super feature packed, and very fast and smooth. The battery life would be even better, if I could keep my hands off of it, but I can't. It's that good.

I haven't tried sleep montoirng. I always hated sleeping with a watch on. I have a habit of sleeping with my hand under my face, and it hurts LOLLL.

Going to check it out. My one complaint with the Gear S2 was the watch was just a hair too small. But, many are too big for my taste, so it's a delicate balance.

I think this is what many people are saying, the size is just right if you have slightly bigger hands. For me, 42mm is ideal, but I really feel they should make three sizes: 38 mil, 42mm and 46mm, no company is currently doing that. And 40mm and 44mm are also nice options, but that could be asking too much.

For me, I don't know what you can do on hem, that would make the display too small? I looked at videos of games for the Gear, and I would never play them. For texts and such they are very easy to read. The only thing is I have always have T9 typing...I wish there was an option for letters. I mean they could put the letters as a grid of 5 for each row

I'm with you here, and the design is really spot on. Which version did you get, the LTE one on AT&T?

I have the watch too and I can name two big discernable weaknesses; 1) The app selection still is horrible. It hasn't improved since the original Gear watch in late 2013, only gotten bigger with more garbage apps. 2) There is no way to make music play lists. I agree it's a fantastic watch, but it does have it's weaknesses. Start using it more and you'll see them crop up.

As much as you troll Samsung, and hate Samsung and Android, there's no way on earth I'd believe you went out and bought a Gear S3. For the record, I think you're lying. BLATANTLY at that.

Sorry girlfriend, but unlike you I actually buy and use both Apple AND Samsung products. So I know of what I speak. And please, on the negative points of the Gear S3, of which I have the Classic version, tell me how I'm wrong. Tell me how the app selection is awesome, and tell me how to make a music playlist.

He does buy and use both Apple and Android.

Everyone here knows I use both, but I'm way more android now. He is telling a bald face lie Ted. Someone who makes his Samsung hatred that known, isn't going out to buy a 350$ Samsung gear s3. He's lying...flat out.

Ok mister tech genius, ask me any question(s) that only a Gear S3 Classic owner would know. Also I don't hate Samsung, I just have to call out Apple bashers when THEY make obviously false claims.

"ask me any question(s) that only a Gear S3 Classic owner would know." No, not necessarily. I do not own a Gear S3 Classic, yet I know everything about it! You're known to be a notorious Samsung basher, why would anyone believe you now? The 4748th city dog!

How many different color options are available on the Steps Challenge 1 watch face? And how many complications options? Also how do you like the haptic/taptic feedback when you enter your PIN?

LMAOOOO-Translation; ctdog4748 is totally correct, but me and my 'bros' can't actually accept that, so we'll deflect by making idiotic off topic comments. Ok, go back to giving each other virtual fist bumps or whatever makes you feel better. Don't forget to +1 each other. Smooches!

Your translation is about as good as the fake sign language guy. The real translation is we're laughing at you. I'm sure it's a familiar thing for you. Smooch my backside.

Well said ted. He's an Apple fanboy troll, who absolutely hates Samsung, no matter how much he's says he doesn't. We've been seeing what he's about, since he made his first post, and now we're to arbitrarily believe he has a gear s3. Puuuuuuuuuuuuulease.

Well I challenged your boyfriend trojanhore with some questions about the Gear S3, since he claimed he knows EVERYTHING about the watch. Of course, surprise, surprise, he's yet to answer. So genius, go on, ask me something only a person that actually owns the watch and has it right with them could answer. I'll wait.
