Samsung Galaxy S8 to include new version of Over the Horizon ringtone

With two days left before the big reveal of the Galaxy S8, Samsung announced it has teamed up with Grammy Award-winning artist Jacob Collier to compose a tune that's “unique and inventive,” which will be pre-loaded on all Galaxy smartphones starting this year.

The distinctive Over the Horizon tune, which has become the ringtone theme of every Samsung smartphone out there, will be reworked this year to give the new Galaxy lineup a fresh start.

Over the Horizon has been the default ringtone for all Samsung Galaxy devices for about six years, but each year Samsung has fleshed out the six notes within a different musical genre, thus producing songs that have been at times funky, rocking, orchestral and smooth.

The new interpretation of Over the Horizon by Jacob Collier mixes “elements of contemporary jazz, pop and dance beats to craft an energetic sound that straddles genres.”

Samsung's brand song has been specially arranged and recorded by Jacob, who employed a total of 16 different instruments. The new version of Over the Horizon ringtone will make its debut with the release of the Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone later this week.

No! I like the ringtone too. I like the older ones better, but this one is very energetic and nice how it brings several song styles together.
