Samsung Galaxy S5 Active ready to take on the Canadian winter
With the harsh Canadian winter upcoming, it might be good to have a smartphone that can shrug off the elements. The Samsung Galaxy S5 Active offers protection from the rain and snow (the phone is designed to withstand a submersion as deep as 3.2 feet for as long as 30 minutes). And since hands get numb in the cold weather, which can lead to your phone getting dropped on its noggin more than once, Samsung has covered this device with a rubberized casing that offers some protection from drops. With its US Mil-STD-810G certification, the phone can survive in its environment, and is thermal shock resistant.

Like the regular version of the Samsung Galaxy S5, the Galaxy S5 Active comes with a heart rate monitor. And if you get caught in a blizzard, unable to plug into an outlet, you will be happy to have the Ultra Power Saving Mode on board. With this feature, you can go for 24 hours with just 10% of battery life remaining. Of course, you'll be limited to viewing a black and white display, and only be able to use certain apps.

In Canada, Bell is offering the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active starting today for $279.95 with a signed two-year pact, or $699.95 off-contract. TELUS is also expected to offer the handset later this year.

Another day, another GaLAGsy. $699 for the JunkWiz + Crap'O'LED combo. What a ripoff!

I wish Samsung had release already the S6, Note 4 is too big for me. Something like a rival to Z3 with the specs of Note 4, same size like s5. 1080p display calibrated like Alpha's and a great camera (better than Note 4), better low light shots. 3gb ram, 32gb at least, SD, remov. battery.

The GS6 looks like it's going to rock. Smaller Note 4 with the Galaxy Alpha performance and a 2k screen. I couldn't wait for it though and got the Alpha so I'll probably pass on the GS6 and maybe get the Z4 or Z5 compact.

I'm impressed by the Alpha's camera samples that I saw. Unfortunately Ican't tell the same for the Note 4 or the Z3c

Lol, now people wish to have a 6 month cycle but the majority complains when Sony does it... go figure... Anyway I am done waiting... I will replace my current Xperia Acro S for the similarly sized but miles ahead in most department, the Z3 Compact. Can't wait!

the Z3 compact is a nice looking phone. The Moto x and Z3 win best designs in my opinion.

I meant Moto X and Z3 compact. The Z3 is just too big for me.

Lol this costs Samsung a lot more than it costs Apple to make the icrap6, so if you want to talk about being ripped off, you are the expert.
