Radio Shack slowly rolling out the iPhone to its stores

Although some of the big name brick and mortar retail stores already heavily feature the Apple iPhone prominently in their locations, Radio Shack is slowly rolling out the popular smartphone to its stores nationwide. Radio Shack definitely has ties to all four of the major wireless providers in the country, but the iPhone remained to be elusive in their quest to gain a piece of the beloved handset for their customers. During an executive conference call this week, Radio Shack intends to have the iPhone in virtually all of its stores by the end of March. Julian Day, the company's chief executive, said that "We are currently implementing several hundred stores per week with a plan to have the product available in about 3,000 stores by the end of March." The retailer actually started carrying the iPhone at a limited number of company-owned stores in the New York City and Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan areas as a trial back in November 2009. Although it seems like they'll be getting a healthy stock of current generation iPhone models, it's unclear if Apple will see Radio Shack as a preferred partner for any future revisions of their handsets.
