Piper Jaffray estimates 2 to 2.5 million Apple iPhone 4S units will be sold through Sunday
With the Apple iPhone 4S officially launched today, Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster estimates that 2-2.5 million units of the latest iPhone will be sold through Sunday. And while that is a nice increase from the 1.7 million copies of the Apple iPhone 4 that were sold on its opening weekend, it is a lot smaller than the 4 million in sales that the Yankee Group had predicted for the release of the latest iteration of Apple's touchscreen smartphone.

Piper Jaffray produced a survey of Apple iPhone 4S and found that a majority were AT&T customers. At the same time, less than half are buying the cheapest 16GB model. The results show that 8% of Apple iPhone 4S buyers are switching from an Android model, which is an increase from the 3% of Apple iPhone 4 buyers who switched from the green robot during last year's June launch. Speaking of the Apple iPhone 4, 30% of iPhone 4S buyers are upgrading from the previous version of the phone.

Despite the increase in sales during the opening weekend for the Apple iPhone 4S vs. the iPhone 4, Piper Jaffray noted that the number of people waiting in line outside the Apple store on New York's Fifth Avenue on Friday was lower than last year's figure. The brokerage house says that 460 people were on line today versus 1,300 last year.

Your mistaken about posting pics to FB. You must just havnt been able to figure it out yet, but it is fact that you can post pics from your iphone to FB. Are you using the FB app or accessing it directly through the browser? If your using the app it should be no problem.

You can post pics and videos to fb with iPhone. You can also post videos to YouTube. You can also post links of any webpage to fb.

I just got the iphone 4s and I already miss the droid first and foremost you can't delete photos you synced from your computer to the iphone unless you connect the phone back to the computer and delete the photos yourself and on the droid you can upload a video from youtube to FB just like that (really easy) you cant do that on the iphone4s. I do like the screen and the built on the iphone4s. but the again when i would try to sync videos & pics from my comupter to my iphone it would sync some n not other very fustrated about that , so i got the phone yesterday and Ill be taking it back to get the Nexus Prime for Verizon. good thing i still have my Motorola Droid. In my opinion I like droid alittle bit better than iphones. but they are still both good phones but both OS are totally diff and I perfer droid over apple

I wonder how it performed for Sprint compared to Verizon and AT&T, given that its Sprint's first taste of iPhone, Im sure the numbers might be slightly higher than normal for them. Also want to know if there were any major port outs to other carriers for any of the major carriers for this launch, to see if people do value having an iPhone with unlimited data with Sprint or if Sprint may have less of an advantage in that department than it thinks.

this all android vs IOS..or any other OS, for that matter, thing, will come to an end in 4 days..btw, taco, you are utterly pathetic and ignorant troll. I would never take your idiotPhone 4Steve over my twice cheaper xperia arc. try use that little brain you have and think about that.

Are you thinking of getting the XPERIA play?? Yeah, I see posts about Android being unstable, and has poor battery life and lots of FCs....I switched from a KH3 ROM on my cappy to the new CM 7.1 ROM because of the faster data speeds. But, that KH3 could go 2 days on normal use before I had to charge it. FCs were not an issue, either. My wife's iphone 3GS has to be charged 2X at least daily, and hers is only a couple months older than mine.

xperia play? nah, too bulky and heavy..also, slider form is a no go for me. what i love the most about the arc is that it makes using 4.2 ich screen natural and easy, due to it's amazing lightness, thinness, and ergonomics. and it just gets the job done-no issues with the battery or software. as for the playing on the phone, i think the future should be in acessories, and attachable gamepads. the Play is a nice concept, but phone+gamepad will always be just too much of a compromise IMO

I had the TILT I, when the first iphone came out - lack of MMS was a big reason why I passed on it - and, no cut and paste option.... If ANDROID stops being awesome for me, then I may look into WIN 7.5/8 phones.

Everyone shut up with this android vs iOS stuff its old and played out. Who cares and I don't see why y'all are really trying to defend these compampies. Google as well as their various phone partners are ripping you off why do you think they come out with so many and claim they pushed out the next update to your carriers to give to you and you have a chance your phone won't ever see it then next thing you know another phone comes out with better specs? Duh they want your money. As for apple they are doing the same they barely tweak it and the come out with a new model to they want your money also. I would never defend a company that is making millions everyday and it's not helping me in anyway but take money out my pocket y'all sound so dumb and these companies could care less and that's what most fail to realize. Also who cares what someone buys with THEIR money. You buy what you like and they do the same...everyone just needs to chill...

Oh dear people pleased passing to a clone of the iphone 4, with an unnecessary battery eating dual core and an assistant that you will get bored of in some days. Was a major breaktrough the ipad 2, iphone 4S has a recycled A5 in fact, nothing new: just a better camera. Apple is lucky to have fanboys, they just declare as breaktrough old concepts or features like postcard app and will sell. Can please someone tell me how can someone switch from iphone 4 to 4S? The question is: the iphone 4 was laggy as hell or the dual core on the 4s is useless and you are paying 700 bucks for that. What I know is that iphone 4 was a good phone and fanboys are stealing from poors (themselves) and giving to rich for the 4s. Have fun doing that, I call it masochism.

The huge problem is people say iPhone always outsell Android devices because iPhone is one device compared to many Android devices. I'm sorry if Android had only one device aka just the nexus series then it WILL outsell iPhone in sales. The iPhone comes out once a year and everybody knows that, but Android give way more choice then just one phone a year. Which means people upgrade their phones different times a year or 2 instead of the one time a year deal. People like the features of Android, now iPhone is on ( cheap getto Sprint as other f**ks have put it before Sprint got the iPhone that's what they called Sprint) let's see how many really want the iPhone. 30% of iPhone 4 owners want the iPhone 4s, 30%, wow that says it all when people complain about Android users upgrading once a year to higher end Android phones.

Funny that no iphone user has ever explained, properly and factually, why iphones are better than an Android phone. But, we shall save that for another article.....

Yeah, you ask for an explanation, you'll get something complaining about force closes, lag, bugs, etc. Of course, many of them speak from a position of total ignorance on these issues. And the rest are simply being disingenuous.

Omg. Please shut up. Apple force closes as well. Every smartphone does it. Android just notifies you. Read the nice long paragraphs above you, that is why Android will dominate. Everyone that I know who owns an Apple is: 1. Clueless of how to do anything on a smartphone. 2. Acts like a f**king douchebag, and says it is the greatest thing. When, in reality, you just got ripped off from a company that steals other peoples s**t and calls it their own. But I guess Apple invented it all. What a joke of a company.

FCs normally have to do with how the ROM handles RAM....gotta hope they come out with 2GB RAM in the next generation phones. 512 MB RAM for a new phone is a joke now.

You really need to get your s**t right when saying force closes have to do with Rom and ram, you are ill informed and need to educate yourself about the cause of a force close.

No, actually, you are - with the right kernel that installs the right scripts, it can get around the RAM issue by managing it better and thus limiting FCs - go on XDA's website sometime....

ok, so, for the record I live in a household where an IPAD 1, iPOD (latest model) and iphone 3GS exists - all updated to iOS5 - the wife was so happy that she got text tones....lol....reminds me of those 3G model users clamoring for MMS. Now her 3GS is really slow - and now she wants an iphone 4S - which, if I were to get an iphone, that would be the one I get. No one should be surprised about the iphone 4S sales - lemmings want and lemmings will get.....if you have more carriers and more countries selling the iphone on opening day as well as pre-orders, then common sense will tell you that probably more iphones will sell. For those who are ignorant on Android, and there are quite a few on this site, normally, the newest GB releases from Samsung have really made the Captivate an awesome phone. I always have a tough choice between a CM7.1 2.3.7 ROM or an updated 2.3.5 KJ3 ROM. Android reminds me of the old 6.5 Windows phones, except with cooler apps and even easy to modify. If my phone has an issue, I can fix it myself, most of the time. With an iPHONE - you call APPLE care for warranty. With Android, I can delete an app that was built into the phone, or just not use it anymore and instead use something on the market. I can pull the battery out. I can buy a microSD card for more memory. I can sync my app, data, everything to my PC, without any program such as iTUNES. Speaking of Itunes, Android users could already do updates on their phone without syncing the phone to some large cumbersome program. Android users can enjoy SPOTIFY, which is an app that allows me to listen to my own music that is on my PC on that SPOTIFY app, as well, as search for other music and create personal playlists loaded to my profile - without paying a thing for music. FREEDOM.....that is what Android stands for....that is what America is suppose to stand for. But, I suppose you iphone idiots rather go with what is popular, just as you all probably vote for the same Dems and Republicans year after year, election after election. Android is here to stay and I am sorry if you thought otherwise. Thanks to APPLE's presence, Android will only get better - the more choices we have the better off the world will be. But, we all know how APPLE hates company.

Android is the king of bloat ware and no you can't deletecprecinstalled apps without hacking your phone. You don't want to pay for music? So you prefer to pirate it. That's fine if stealing is your thing, but don't bash Apple for the fact you're a cheap thief.
