Pinterest renovates its mobile apps – the iPad gets Place Pins, all receive GIF support
Pinterest, the social network that allows you to "discover new things and collect stuff you love", updated its mobile apps, the Android and the iOS ones. As a result, some features, which are already available on the desktop version of the site, were added.

Both mobile versions of Pinterest now support GIF files. This feature was implemented into the desktop site back in January. Just like desktop users, Pinterest enthusiasts that use a mobile device can pause and play the GIFs within the pinboards.

Pinterest's iPad app received a more special treatment. It got updated with Place Pins – a rather fresh geo-location feature, which allows users to pin the stuff they find interesting to an interactive map. As strange as it may seem, the Place Pins tool was not available on the iPad up until now - only Android and iPhone users could interact with the map pins.

In addition, the overall interface of all Pinterest apps has been overhauled. Now, they have a much flatter, cleaner design, which is almost the same as that of the desktop version of the social network.
