Photo of Verizon flavored BlackBerry Priv spotted on social media
A photo of the BlackBerry Priv running on the network of the nation's largest carrier, was spotted Friday on Instagram. Thankfully, we know the phone is running on Verizon because of content on the screen, not because of the Verizon logo. Neither the red check mark associated with the mobile operator, nor the company's name, appears on the front of the phone.

Instead, the upper right of the screen shows that the phone is connected to Verizon Wireless. In addition, one of the notifications on the screen reads "Enhanced Verizon Store visits." Keep in mind that this might not mean anything. Last year, amid rumors that the Sony Xperia Z2 would be offered on Verizon, leaked photos showed the device wearing the Verizon name. However, nothing ever came of it.

During the summer, tipster Evan Blass sent out a tweet stating that the Priv (known then as the "Venice") would be offered on all four major U.S. carriers, but there is talk that Verizon won't be offering the phone until some time in 2016. None of the U.S. carriers have said anything about whether they are carrying the Priv.

Meanwhile BlackBerry itself will be shipping its unlocked model starting on November 6th. This version is not compatible with Verizon or Sprint.

Can't wait to see full hands-on reviews of this device then some camera comparison and perhaps some storage performance test...really curious to see if BB is returning with a versatile, feature-packed top performer, or just pulling another rotten fruit move with gimped hardware/software selling at a premium. I'm hoping for the former...

You're hoping for the former but I think it's going to be the latter.

I think the Priv is going to perform admirably. Judging by what we've seen on video so far, the device is fast and smooth. I doubt it will be like that "gimped" rotten, half eaten fruit you're referring to.

That's one down three to go, honestly at this point I can get it from Veriexpensive then switch after a month elsewhere and bring it with me.

Not likely. What are the chances that VZW will seek a phone that is compatible with all four carriers?

All. I can see you're not American but, happy to explain. Verizon holds the most amount of low band 700 mhz spectrum on block b. The government made a deal to Verizon selling the spectrum, in exchange that from that moment forward all devices come unlocked out of the box, well, at least the ones that are LTE.

It's not like Verizon wouldn't go back on its word.

It helps to know what you are talking about.

iPhones, the Galaxy S line of phones and the Galaxy Note line of phones are all compatable with all four carriers. And there are other handsets with similar compatibility that Verizon has carried.

Only the Nexus 5X, 6, 6P and the Moto X Pure Edition are the only phones so far that you can use on vzw and every other carrier. Every other phone from vzw with 4G LTE will not work to its full capacity on the other networks. I'm not sure if they'll even work on Sprint.

I'm referring to CDMA versions of the handsets I mentioned.

Yes and no, I know at least hspa is possible, LTE is achieved with further tweaking, but seriously, every LTE handset sold by Verizon is unlocked.

That's why Verizon phones are highly sought after in the second hand market.

All Verizon iPhones since the 5S work to all their capabilities on any GSM network as well.

That's so true!! Like I said my t mobile note 5 I unlocked works great if not better on VZW!!! I'm going to officially change back to VZW next moth I'm done with t mobile in 2013 wen uncarrier started t mo was great but now they grew for worsening giving this cheap this and unlimited that I think their network cannot handle everyone so now they are laggy as hell Verizon never has!! I think not sure Verizon is the only carrier that has blackberry?? T mo might?? But I've only had Verizon 'n' t mobile..

All four major US carriers offer/have offered BlackBerry 10 devices and BBOS.x devices.

Someone on Reddit called into AT&T and was told that pre-orders would begin by mid-November and the device would be offered by the end of the month. Another user actually went into T-Mobile and asked and was told November 16th would be the date they would offer it. They also seemed to be knowledgeable of the device which is very different from how they have been about Blackberry devices in the past (including the Classic). So, hopefully this means all 4 carriers may carry the device. May be a good thing for the Priv.

And they will ruin it with their ugly logo as always.

I would be very surprised to see if they could even put a logo on the front of the device. There's just no space for it to go.

They are verizon, and very notorious for ruining the looks of phone by cramming in their tick on any device they carry, and i m sure they would be able to squeeze that tick anyhow......

Overpriced phone plus overpriced network. Sounds about right.

Hopefully, this is a precursor to Verizon, and the 3 other major US carriers, carrying the Priv.
