Over 300,000 iPad 3G units sold so far according to Piper Jaffray analyst
Yet another bright spot may be looming on Apple's unrelenting horizon as it's being reported by Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster that over 300,00 iPad 3G units were sold over the weekend. Most of the Apple Stores were quickly sold out of the cellular enabled iPad by Sunday, which combined with the 52 days of pre-orders, hints to the realizing truth that the recent surge aided in eclipsing the 1 million mark for the company. It looks like analysts will have to readjust their estimates as it stands now that the previous estimate of 1.3 million iPads being sold for the entire spring quarter is looking to be too low. Another analyst, Kathy Huberty of Morgan Stanley, now predicts for Apple to sell approximately 7 million units of their highly prized product through the first year. Moreover, the iPad is quickly becoming the fastest selling tablet and e-reader which is encroaching on the Amazon Kindle's sales of over 3 million units so far. Even though some see it to be the year of tablets, it'll be interesting to see who can stand equally and muster a backing that can give the iPad a run for its money.
