OnePlus 2 tipped to feature 5.5-inch to 5.7-inch screen

With the VR unveiling of the OnePlus 2 taking place on July 27th, a Weibo user has posted what is alleged to be a "spy sketch" of the eagerly awaited sequel to the OnePlus One. According to a tipster using the handle @KJuma, who posted this on the Chinese microblogging site, the new handset will feature a 5.5-inch to 5.7-inch screen. The current model features a 5.5-inch, 1080 x 1920 resolution screen. There is no word about what the resolution will be on the OnePlus 2 display.

The tipster adds on his Weibo page that the phone will look very much like the OnePlus One with some small changes. For example, the number of speaker holes will be doubled, and the device will feature a thin metal build. The OnePlus 2, according to this tipster, will be 5mm to 6mm thin giving off quite a svelte appearance. We already know from OnePlus that the "2" will be powered by the Snapdragon 810 SoC and will employ the Type-C USB port, which allows for the cable to plugged in with either side on top.

All of the specs, pricing and launch dates are sure to be made known on July 27th when the phone is unveiled. In the meantime, we suggest that you take this story with a grain of salt.

Thanks for the tip!

As a small startup company that have nothing to lose, oneplus shouldn't risk putting SD 810 in the phone. If the SoC overheats it will hurt sales so much.

I guess S810 can be tamed now. With 2.1 drivers and lowering the clocks to 1.8 GHz along with the hardware modifications done to cool down the device, i think it will be good.

Should have used the 808. Look at what Sony and HTC are going through. My G4 is blazing fast on the 808. Perhaps something other than Qualcomm? Just not the 810.

After this leaked 2.7.401.1 that will come to the M9 shortly via an OTA, the phone DOES NOT HEAT UP! and performance is improved A LOT! I used to get 56k in AnTuTu and consistent 1000+ in geekbench single core when testings 3 consecutive times. Now the M9 scores a whopping 62k in AnTuTu and the minumum freq of the A57 cluster now is lowered to 384 MHz instead of this pathetic 633 MHz So things are improving, and i am very optimistic for the upcoming 1+2 More than anything else. And btw, this adreno 430 + DDR4 combo can not be left that easily ;)

Should've use the 620, since it is better than the 808.

Of course 620 is a better option, but it is not ready yet for mass production :D

There's a video on youtube where the Z3+ records 18 mins of 4K before closing the camera. That's impressive. It only really heats with the useless AR Mask camera app.

They were doing great with oneplus one sales and they do have lot of stock left. So they recently gave discount to attract more customers so that they can be ready for oneplus two launch.

I'd take it with a bucket of salt. The sketch looks too much like the OnePlus One. And the 5mm thickness? Come on, they're not miracle workers.

They better NOT reduce the size of battery, especially with SD810...

I hope they increase it to at least 3500 mAh of not 4000 mAh.
