Old HTC Butterfly updated to Android 4.3 with Sense 5.5. Droid DNA to stick with 4.2.2 until KitKat arrives

HTC’s original Butterfly smartphone is seemingly getting an official Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update starting today. The news comes form HTC ROM developer LlabTooFeR, who posted a screenshot detailing the 4.3 update on Twitter.

As in the case of the newer Butterfly S, which received Android 4.3 in December, the update also brings sense 5.5 UI to the old Butterfly. Other novelties that you should expect include BlinkFeed enhancements, improved music channel, and an enhanced imaging experience. The update, ROM version 3.15.707.4, is a 500.58MB file, so you’ll probably want to download it via Wi-Fi.

LlabTooFeR also reconfirmed that Verizon’s HTC Droid DNA would not be updated to Android 4.3. Instead, it’s going to jump to Android 4.4.2 KitKat directly. Until that happens, the DNA will remain on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

Speaking of KitKat, it’s not clear if the original Butterfly will get it. But let’s hope it will!

No "Dual shot" and "Panorama +" mode in camera app and also no "Blinkfeed on/off" option which are the wo most important features of sense 5.5.

Glad Htc are supporting the Butterfly range and the DNA, after all, they started this 5inch HD1080P display with 2GB RAM madness in late 2012.

On the VZW DNA getting 4.2.2. I'll believe it when I see it. (To clarify. The DNA getting 4.2.2 when EVERYTHING else is two updates pass 4.2.2 doesn't count. :Glares @ HTC & VZW:)

htc one x and x + will stay on 4.2 unfortunatelly. but its nvidias fault. they abandoned one x's tegra support. at least they have sense 5 already.

They are currently being updated to 4.2.2 in the States & it has already been confirmed by HTC that that is where they will forever reside.
