Nokia Lumia 930 leaks out: a Lumia Icon look-alike

The Nokia Lumia 930 has just leaked out, mere hours before today’s Nokia event, and it looks almost exactly like the earlier released Lumia Icon. The Icon launched as an exclusive handset for Verizon Wireless in the United States, and it was not available for purchase globally. The Lumia 930, as a nearly identical-looking copy, is likely to change that, as expectations are that it will see a much wider availability.

Right now, we have what looks like the official press image leak out from well-known and reliable @evleaks. The image depicts a Lumia 930 with a boxy design (like the one that the Icon features) and coming in at least four color options - green, red, white and black.

The Lumia 930 also apparently features a 20-megapixel PureView camera with a ZEISS lens and dual-LED flash. We were pleased with the camera performance of the Lumia Icon, and we expect the same photographic excellence from the 930.

To freshen up your minds about the Lumia Icon (that the 930 could be a nearly identical copy of), we ought to say that it is a device with a 5-inch 1080p display, a quad-core Snapdragon 800 system chip and 2GB of RAM. We expect similar specs in this forthcoming Lumia 930.

You’d need to wait a few more hours, though, for the official announcement - we’ll also be reporting live from the event, so stay tuned.

Would be awesome if this is a smaller 4.5" or 4.7" screen which is full HD, a decent camera is sufficient as the 1000 series is usually camera orientated.

Big dissapointment for me. 5 inch for screen is stupid standard, 4.5 or 4.7 is perfect size. I hope 1030 will not have such a big screen. 925 with 1020 camera and it would be perfect phone.

If it doesn't support SD card, I'm not going to switch back to WP, 1520 is too big and i don't need a phone that has a very good camera, but i want a flagship :v

There is no 1820.

....? Those don't look like on screen buttons? :-(

Because it's an in international copy of the Lumia Icon. The phone that got delayed like 2 months, and was released 2 months ago. A point in time when no WP8.1 was on the horizon. So by today's standards this phone is a mid-ranger, not a flagship.

Mid-ranger? Must be something very wrong with your definition of a mid-ranger!

Assuming they go with the Icon specifications, it'll be technology from Q4 of 2013. Old technology. Not something worthy of being called 2014 flagship technology. They could of course surprise us at the event in a few hours, but I don't see anything ground-breaking with half a year old technology if they go with the Icon specifications.

the processor, ram, screen, camera looks high end to me... no snap805 yet on the market.

The processor is last-generation (current is 801 and by June the current will be 805). The screen is likely just fine, the RAM is a bit on the lower side albeit normal (Z2 went with 3 GB). The camera is a bit underwhelming when people buy Nokia in large part because of the camera. On top of it all, I think a lot of us were hoping for new camera rechnology, not just a 1520-copy. I like Nokia, I just wish they were a bit faster with development and global releases. If the 930 was out TODAY I wouldn't complain as much.

its actually a waste on our money if they intend to announce the latest phone model with the latest processor. with that much power, we cant even max out the processor with current WP. sure it will result into smooth-sailing tasks, -its like you own a ferrari, but driving on a 50kph limit

36. Beijendorf unregistered

To use your own analogy here; you may not have the need to reach the top speed with your Ferrari. But you do want to accelerate fast! And it's the same thing with adding the latest processors. You may not need to keep it under 100 % load all the time, but you do want intermittent bursts of speed. The Image Signal Processing speed in the Snapdragon 801 is almost equivalent to the speed of the Snapdragon 805. Imagine the burst camera speed or 4K recording with a SoC like that. I don't know if power consumption is lower in the 801/805 too, but it doesn't feel impossible. Releasing a phone with a 2 generations old processor (it isn't out until June, remember) and calling it "Flagship" is just inexcusable. Also, it's not a cheap phone... they didn't pass those 'savings' onto their customers.

lets say not max it. just 4/5 of the processing power. yes lumia phones has a steady (not rapid) acceleration, but it is a stable one fortunately -compared to others.no apps yet to stress the soc intensively. and i believe gas consumption is the same on the 1st gear and the 5th gear.

puhlease, it's a Nokia.

If it's an exact copy of the Icon, it's merely a top mid-ranger. Which would explain why it'd have such an affordable price as rumoured. The flagship everyone's waiting for is still nowhere to be seen.

I dont think so, what did nokia do with 9.8mm thick and 2420 mAh battery for 5inch FHD screen resolution???

maybe its the wireless charging copper coil and the 1/2.5" camera sensor. or maybe just unicorn flesh.

I don't like how that camera looks. They should style it a bit more. A metal thingie like since N9 or something like 925 and 1520. But that flat small little black point looks plain.
