New split view Google Keyboard available for Nexus 5, Nexus 6 and Nexus 9

New split view Google Keyboard available for Nexus 5, Nexus 6 and Nexus 9
If you own one of the Nexus mobile devices that is compatible with the Android M Developer Preview, such as the Nexus 5, Nexus 6 or Nexus 9, you can download the latest iteration of the Google Keyboard app (version 4.0.23004). The updated app is not available in the Google Play Store. A new feature of the updated Google Keyboard allows you to split it into two halves.

If you are using one of the Nexus devices we previously mentioned, you can turn on the split view by going to Settings > Language and Input > Google Keyboard Settings > Advanced > Appearance and layouts > Split Keyboard. While only the specified Nexus devices are able to get the split QWERTY for the moment, hopefully once Android M is released, all phones updated to the new build are given this option.

Check out a couple of images showing the new split Google Keyboard by clicking on the sideshow below.

Thanks for the tip!

Why bother saying that? If you don't like it, just go away! And keep whatever keyboard you're using.

Antimio, ha-ha that was funny.... But I consider myself a bit of a troll (in the Apple camp), but I do it for fun mostly.

"I think xxx is ugly" is an opinion. "Why would someone do xxx" is trolling. I don't know what you did before but at least this time you acted like a troll.

definition of troll is someone who post something to cause an argument. nothing about my post is argument worthy. Its not a troll post bruh you're just stupid if you think it is.

Pretty sure it's the most used/downloaded keyboard on Android. I think a few million people are against you.

It's my default keyboard configuration on my tablet. I grab the tablet from the sides and write with my two thumbs.

i guess i can see it being a useful tablet keyboard or if you like to use your phone in landscape mode but most people don't use tablets or landscape mode.

But some people do, and those 'some people' would be thrilled by this feature, while those of us who don't use it will carry on using the Google keyboard which we are already very happy with.

I also type on my phone in landscape mode with both thumbs but there I don't need split keyboard because I can reach with my thumbs the entire surface. But for the tablet, split keyboard is essential.

I use my right thumb for swiping on keyboards...I think it'd be more useful to float a normal sized keyboard in the bottom right corner in landscape mode rather than make a huge one, even if splitting the keyboard would help with thumb-reaching.

It's not wrong to implement it though. But when something from Android gets implemented to iOS, droids would automatically say "copycat".

it's been in iOS for ages. and it's way better than that.

Oh WTF is that? iOS's split keyboard looks so much better(iPad only). Could have made it for tablets instead.
