NFL Mobile could... go...all...the...way to the Samsung GALAXY Nexus on January 4th
The NFL Mobile app, currently an exclusive belonging to Verizon, has allowed football fans on Big Red's network to watch Red Zone, and Sunday Night/Thursday Night Football as it streams over their handset. This year, those who have signed up for Verizon's Vcast or who have an LTE enabled handset receive streaming live video from NFL Network which will include the Super Bowl.
While owners of the Samsung GALAXY Nexus can install the app, the software will not work until the the proverbial switch is turned on. That was suppose to happen on Thursday at 5PM Eastern time according to a memo from Verizon. But there is a penalty marker down on the field and upon further review, a source for Droid Life is calling unsportsmanlike conduct on the part of Verizon and is moving the launch of the app for the GALAXY Nexus back to January 4th.
Owners of the Samsung GALAXY Nexus probably don't mind waiting a little longer to use the app as long as it is ready in time for the Super Bowl. The memo also reminds Samsung GALAXY Nexus owners that they will soon receive other apps that can be installed such as VZ Navigator (which isn't needed because of the free Google Navigation on the phone), Verizon Video and VZW Tones.
