Motorola starts rolling out Android 7.1.1 Nougat for Moto X Play

It looks like Motorola has just started to push the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update to the Moto X Play. The US-based company confirmed back in June that the mid-range smartphone will be updated to Nougat, but it did not offer details on the exact release date.

Even now we still don't know when the update will arrive in certain countries, but at least some Moto X Play owners managed to upgrade their phones. For the time being, the only reports that confirm Motorola have kicked off the roll-out of Android 7.1.1 Nougat for Moto X Play come from Brazil.

The update contains one of the newest security patches released by Google, but the changelog doesn't really mention which one, August or September.

Since the Moto X Play was launched on the market more than two years ago, we doubt Motorola will release any other Android OS update for this particular handset.

Oh, well, if you're a proud owner of the Moto X Play, it doesn't hurt to hit that “Software update” button, even if you don't live in Brazil.

Well, it's something, I guess. It's still utter crap that it took this long for Moto to finally offer Nougat on the X Play and X Pure now that Oreo is out. Went Nexus & haven't looked back.

This has been a workhorse for me these last 18 months, but hopefully a Nougat update soon. Might be an improvement, great battery life once, now average. This has been a great buy otherwise.

Funny Motorola prioritize Brazil in Android updates, while Samsung and LG leave it last in the list.
