Motorola XTREME and DROID 2 are two separate devices

This article contains unofficial information.
Motorola XTREME and DROID 2 are two separate devices
We recently showed you pictures of the Motorola XTREME (MB810). Now that the SHADOW name has apparently been stricken from the device, the next order of business is to prove that the XTREME and the DROID 2 (A955) are two different models. After all, you may have never seen them together at the same place and the same time. The picture of the DROID 2 below has the model number on the screen and looks different. It also is equipped with a QWERTY keyboard, quite possibly the one that we were able to present to you recently. Note how the A955 has some chrome on the front that is a departure from the looks of the original DROID. Remember, Big Red is expected to be launching 2 Android devices from Motorola next month and the XTREME and the DROID 2 appear close to hitting prime time.

well this one qualifies as the no s**t moment of the week... droid 2 has the new keyboard...jumps up to a 1ghz omap...same screen and camera, new pretty chromed ring...ooooh xtreme....we already know all the details... its for 2 different consumers....no one expects a landscape qwerty on a 4.1" or bigger screen....the droid2 keyboard is night and day better than the first, people will shut up about it and be happy for once... as of now droid xtreme has 2.1 in testing....droid 2 has 2.2 in some models and 2.1 in others so they can see which one will be the launch version... expect 2.2 on both before august and on the droid itself...incredible ownes...mid fall....sorry

Phonearena is typically slow.. most ppl pretty knew they are 2 different devices... ha @Oddmanout: we come cuz we visit several tech forums during work hours, best way to "beat the clock"

Well an article is an article and maybe there wasn't much else to talk about. And the DROID 2 seems kinda pointless. Sure its faster and has a new keyboard but is that it? The first one only came out a few months ago so to replace it with something not even that updated seems simply unnecessary but the EXTREME looks pretty awesome!

"A few months ago?" Try 9 months on July 17. That's 3 quarters of a year. The Storm 2 from Blackberry was released on a similar timetable in relation to the first Storm. They're keeping the DROID brand name up to date, and fixing the keyboard complaint people had about the first one.
