Moto E5 and G6 Plus and Play price and release dates

Motorola's midrange and budget warriors, the Moto E5 and G6, and their Plus and Play versions are just around the corner... if you live in Mexico, that is, as they just got released in Brazil, and will be available in Mexico next week. As for the rest of the world, well, Motorola is only saying that the phones will "roll out over the coming months in various countries in Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America and North America."

Bummer, but at least one of the devices, the most affordable Motorola Moto E5 Play, will be exclusive for North America, and we are hearing a May release here. The E5 Play has already popped up here and there in some stores, and the price seems to be pegged at $119, or as much as its predecessor, the E4, commanded at launch.

That's a lot of phone for little money, as the E5 Play is compatible with all major US carriers, including Verizon and Sprint out of the box. Which one would you pick?

Still no Oreo update for G5 & G5s plus.Moto sucks in updates.Better to go with Nokia or other Android One phone.

I bet they are waiting to give oreo to g5/+ until after 6 series rolls out to make the new gen more appealing.

Right? pretty confusing information on if it will be available in the US. I would guess yes, because it leaves a big gap that the G5s Plus fills having the 625 snapdragon. I'm fine using my RAZR from 2011 a bit longer... WOUld love to see the reviews of the phones. (especially G6 Plus)

agreed, they are differentiating latin america from north america which basically only leaves the USA and Canada, so is it coming to the US or no?

not sure but for a few minutes amazon had the essential phone for $349.. and if you use amazon gift certificates to save 5%... that was $332... and so I thought.. well I'm not sure WHEN the G6 Plus will make to the US .. if EVER... so I jumped on the essential phone... unfortunately for everyone.. the price jumped back up about thirty minutes later... as long as they don't cancel my order... I made out like a bandit... Amazon... better than Costco... who'da thunk

Makes no sense to buy an expensive device anymore, unless to play games. I just wish Moto add notification light to their devices.

A Verizon Prepaid E5 Plus for the disposable price of $149 would be a good deal even if it doesn't get the Android P update. Use it for a year then buy a new E6 Plus next year to get Android P. Both phones will still be cheaper than buying a midrange $400-$500 phone.

It'll have to be seen whether this strategy pays off for Moto/Lenovo. To me, it feels Awful. So many phones I can't keep them straight and different ones to different places on top of that. And "North America" doesn't necessarily mean the US as far as the g6+ is concerned. But we can hope, cause the g6 is not worth my money.
