Motorola CLIQ hacked to run Android 2.1 without MOTOBLUR in tow
Some may forget that the Motorola CLIQ was the manufacturer's first Android powered smartphone, but as we see time after time, it looks like that the Motorola DROID receives much of the attention. Motorola CLIQ owners have longed their voiced their feelings about waiting to see Android 2.1 – especially when it was heard it would be coming some time in Q2 and is obviously starting to wind down to a close. However, hackers have managed to cook up something special for these awaiting owners with a functional ROM that brings along Android 2.1, but without MOTOBLUR in tow. Sure it may be a bummer to those who have grown close to customized Android experience, but it might be tempting enough for some to make the switch if the official one is delayed. The latest alpha build of the Eclair2Cliq ROM is now available and will require owners to follow directions closely to get it to work without messing things up – which can lead to some issues and possibly void your warranty. Once the instructions are carried out carefully, you can get yourself an early preview of Android 2.1, but just don't be too surprised if you happen to find some things not working like it should.
