Microsoft Lumia 640 and Microsoft Lumia 640XL to hit AT&T later this month?
While June is almost half over already, the second half of the month promises to be better for AT&T subscribers looking for some new Windows Phone models. The Microsoft Lumia 640 and the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL are going to be offered by AT&T sometime later this month. The information reportedly comes from a Lumia rep who spoke to WinSuperSite.

According to the rep, the Lumia 640 is expected to be released first, perhaps as soon as next week. It is expected to be priced in a range of $100 to $150. The Lumia 640 XL will then be outed by the end of this month wearing a $200 to $250 price tag.

The Lumia 640 is already available from Cricket, priced at $129.99. T-Mobile is expected to have the phone available on June 17th. The handset comes with a 5-inch screen carrying a 720 x 1280 resolution. That works out to a pixel density of 294ppi. Under the hood you'll find the Snapdragon 400 chipset which features a quad-core 1.2GHz CPU and the Adreno 305 GPU. 1GB of RAM is inside along with 8GB of native storage. Those requiring additional storage can employ the 128GB capacity microSD slot that comes with the device. On back is an 8MP camera with a .9MP snapper in front. The whole shebang is powered by a 2500mAh battery.

The Lumia 640 XL has basically the same specs as its smaller sibling except for its larger 5.7-inch screen. With the same 720 x 1280 resolution, the pixel density of the device drops to 259ppi. The rear camera gets a bump to 13MP and the front-facing camera weighs in at 5MP. A larger 3000mAh battery is under the hood.

If you're an AT&T subscriber hankering for something new for the Windows Phone platform, you should have two new models to choose from before July arrives.

Comparing Microsoft Lumia 640 LTE and Apple iPhone 6http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=7055&idPhone2=6378 LOL. Their specs are pretty comparable besides the internal storage(8 GB vs 16,64,128 GB), and slightly lower PPI on the 640, but then again it has a larger screen... Yet the 16 GB iPhone is $650 vs the 8 GB Lumia 640 at $100-150.... Nice.

I guess you're paying for the appstore. And the metal body....

http://www.anandtech.com/show/9333/the-microsoft-lumia-640-review It is a great budget handset, but your comparison lacks any critical thinking beyond reading comprehension. SD400 vs. A8....c'mon, weak app Store, hobbled OS speed and performance (It gets leveled by the competition, even the Moto E), construction (better than most other low and mid-range offerings, but can't be compared to Apple, Samsung, LG, etc. flagships), screen color accuracy, camera quality, and the list goes on. Disliking Apple is up to you, but lets not make baseless comparisons based on black and white assumptions.

Honestly. Have a 635 sitting at home, I paid $35 for it and it's really just a paperweight. The lack of useful apps makes the phone totally unusable as a daily driver. I love the hardware, it would make an awesome phone if it ran a stock Android.

why even wait. just pick up an unlocked one on expansys-usa. Personally, I'm going to wait until we see more of the 740 or the 840. I want a phablet, but the 940XL is going to be too pricey

It's overpriced at expansys. I'm waiting for T-Mobile next week.

XL is $249. For everyone's sake, I hope you're right and maybe the unlocked ATT version will end up being $199.

Apple is rotten. When will they learn the value of innovation. All they do is cater to their fans while I sit here and waste my life away hating them. Apple must die so my life will stop being wasted by devoting all my time hating them

Here is how you get over your Apple hate? Open an account at ETrade, send them a check, buy you some shares of Apple stock. Then make money off the general public's love of Apple products. Problem solved. Fandroids have to eat too.

I guess Im too stupid to realize that plan. Normally, posting on this website every single day on every single apple article solves my problem...

What's the point without apps. Get a Moto E or G, miles more useful.

Like my name suggests, you youngstas don't get it. Go spend 700 for a phone that supposedly does everything this week in tech and outdated by the end of the year. Apps - windows don't have this app or that app. Go buy a toy if your app world has to have games that aren't on Windows. If you notice, the crash and die ads on TV have young folks doing exactly what they are told not to do - phones apps and driving. Bad combination. Go spend another 700 at the end of the year for the iPhone 7abd can get 3 or more phones for the same price. Apple has the youngstas right where they want then - mindless spending

I would buy the Microsoft 640 XL if it had 16 gigs of main memory. Windows mobile 10-OS is coming how much main memory does person have to have to run it?. If a person buys ether of these Windows 8.1 smart phone they better put their apps on a installed micro sdxc card to make sure they have enough main memory for the " The New Windows Mobile 10 operating system coming in September. Hopefully New Apps developers will make MS "Universal Apps for Windows 10 PC's and Tablets And Windows Mobile 10 Smart phones.

So based on these specs Microsoft has given up on the premium phone market. I see nothing compelling about these phones.
