Samsung, together with pre-paid carrier MetroPCS and marketing agency SA Studios Global have teamed up to offer a tattooed version of the Samsung Messager. The device, which will be offered only at MetroPCS, is a limited edition that features wallpaper, animations and ringtones based on designs from famed tattoo and graffiti artist Mark Machado, aka Mr. Cartoon. Additional downloads for the device, known as the Samsung SCH-r450, will be available on the carrier's web site. Only 30,010 units will be produced with the first ten signed by Mr. Cartoon and auctioned off for charity in August. You can enter the auction by clicking on this link. In addition, a portion of the revenue raised by selling the handset will go to community art centers, outreach programs for at-risk youths, and to provide art supplies for local Los Angeles schools. There is no word on pricing or a definitive launch date.
