Leaked images bear the model number TF300T, presumed to be the Asus Eee Pad Transformer 2
Before the release of the almighty Asus Transformer Prime, it was actually believed to be the direct successor to the previous Asus Eee Pad Transformer model, you know, that Honeycomb tablet that sported a $399 price tag upon its release. As it turns out, the Transformer Prime ended up being something entirely different from the Eee Pad Transformer, thanks to its higher-end specs.

Interestingly enough, newly leaked images bearing the model number TF300T are purportedly to be the Asus Eee Pad Transformer 2. As we know, the original Eee Pad Transformer has the model number of TF101, while the newer offering in the Transformer Prime is the TF201 model. Naturally, one would presume the TF300T to be higher spec’d than the Transformer Prime, but in reality, it could boast specs very similar to the original model.

Essentially, the TF300T model is alleged to replace the original Transformer, while employing some better hardware, naturally, but it’s not expected to be anything more advanced than the current Transformer Prime – so it wouldn’t surprise us to see it outfitted with a dual-core CPU of some kind, as opposed to the newer quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor used by the Transformer Prime.

Moreover, the leaked images showing the tablet’s rear casing appears to flaunt similarities to the plastic textured casing used by the original Eee Pad Transformer. Hence, it’s further evidence that it’s going to be a lower-end model, thus, lining up to the strategy outlined by Asus in having one high-end model, while the other following in the same premise as the original Transformer. Ultimately, we’re curious to see how Asus will price this upcoming model.
