Latest specs and design rumors for the Pixel sequels are right here, right now!
Just the other day, we told you that system files on the HTC U11 revealed information about the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2. These would be the sequels to the original Pixel and Pixel XL models. Today, XDA Developers revealed that it spoke with a source that claims to have had some hands-on time with at least one of the new models. Let's start with the "Walleye," which is the code name for the Pixel 2 unit.

According to the source referred to by XDA, the screen on the Pixel 2 (Walleye) will weigh in at 5-inches like the original, carrying a 1080 x 1920 resolution screen. The Pixel 2 is said to look very much like the OG Pixel down to sporting the same size bezels. The Snapdragon 835 chipset is under the hood, with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage. While the 3.5mm headphone jack is going 'bye-bye,' there will be stereo speakers on the model.

XDA's source says to expect a second, larger screened model codenamed Taimen to be the premium Pixel unit this year. This handset will feature an LG-made 6-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 1440 x 2560. Smaller bezels surround the display, and powering the unit is the Snapdragon 835 SoC. 4GB of RAM is inside, and there is 128GB of native storage offered. The back will still have the metal and glass seen on the original unit, but this time the glass won't cover the fingerprint scanner. A single camera will be on back, and this model will have a 3.5mm headphone jack.

One last piece of information leaves us ready to rev up the Mystery Machine and round up Scooby, Shaggy and the rest of the gang. The source says that on the larger Taimen model, the pre-production software used the name "Nexus Imprint" when referring to the fingerprint scanner. On the Walleye, the settings for the scanner called it "Pixel Imprint." We're not sure what that means, but we should find out when the new Pixels are unveiled as soon as September. Stay tuned!

I'm really hoping Google ends up putting the SD836 in these 2 phones as these will release around October. If history is anything to go by, then they will, as they put the SD821 in the OG Pixels.

You do realise that the 821 is just an overclocked 820, its exactly the same chip.

bigger number means better marketing a lot of people would want the latest chip, even when they dont know that it's just a tiny upgrade that's also why Qualcomm released the Snap 801 vĂ  Snap 821 from the first place

Also its not just overclocked Its a better binned (i.e. more efficient) version Because of process improvements

overclocked 820? on paper: yes, on reality: nope.. that's just as stupid as saying "i7 6700k is just an overclocked i7 6700" or "Ryzen 7 1800X is just an overclocked 1700" it's not that simple.. if you push 820's clock to match 821, it won't run at the same TDP as 821.. overclocked 820 will draw much more power and get overheat much faster than 821 and then get throttled (same goes to overclocked 6700 and 1700)

As much as this is true, the S820 in my OP3 is running at 2.45ghz and 1.82. pretty much an S821 and I don't get any worse battery life and throttle nearly the same amount due to the fact that no apps use the highest frequencies, only when they're opening.

2 moronic us companies who think removing a simple headphone jack is smart. a good majority of people still use the headphone jack. thank god lg and samsung saw the stupidity and include a headphone jack in their. I salute you for having the courage to be better then following this crap trend by 2 dumb us companies.

Get with the times...don't worry LG and Sammy will catch up soon enough. Just like with the removable batteries...they tried to keep them around as long as they could but eventually they have to abide by the times. Technology waits for nobody, you either comply or become irrelevant and get left behind...

Yup, good majority. Everyone isn't living in the same place as you.

I hope they are not ugly and extremely overpriced like last year's model.

If you want the best android phone (Pixel) you have to spend more money than Chinese crap One plus one. As for design, I'll say the first gen's design is not very inspiring. Hopefully atleast Taimen's design is awesome. 6 inch oled display with less bazel, best in class camera, cleanest android and google brand should make this phone worth of high price.

And the "Chinese crap" Oneplus still has better build quality than the cereal box HTC Pixel. Cloth covered earpiece? Glue and adhesive holding it all together? Not to mention the OP3 just plain looks better and has better software. I'll take that over a camera that rarely gets used

Anything with that much bezel is ugly.

So the 5in Pixel 2 will be boring and not worth your money.

Hey, just like an iPhone 7 isn't worth the money. Especially since the display is smaller (4.7") and it's only a HD (1334x750) display. At least the smaller Pixel has a larger 5" Full HD (1920x1080) display, and physically the height of the Pixel is less than the thickness of the iPhone 7 itself or (0.2").

You forgot to add the word "VR" in today's Apple article.

Well that goes without saying, especially when Apple themselves don't support VR. Hey they even dropped Imagination's PowerVR GPUs, because they are so slow.

Why not just get the bigger then since they said that one is going to have a headphone jack

Why not just include it in both?

The smaller the device the more premium the space so it benefits more, but eventually all high end mobile devices will remove it, save for cheap flip phones and such.

Great! The Pixel XL2 gonna be the best smartphone of 2017! Exactly what I wanted great big OLED display 6''! With 18:9 form LG. Bringing back the front stereo speakers:) still with the dimensions of last year Pixel XL so almost no bezels (no need for headphone jack, going for Wireless Great Sound with Android O) waterproofing and the same back design only is a glass not including the fingerprint sensor. So what weed more? I hope the phone will be a little thick with big battery inside at least 3500 milliampere, that will outshine everybody.

If LG is working on the bigger model I hope they add wireless charging, hi-fi dachshund with some good earbuds and slimmer body. The only thing keeping me from the G6 is that it feels too thick to me.

"The only thing keeping me from the G6 is that it feels too thick to me." What?!?! Is it weed or Angel dust? You want to hold paper-thin phone in ur hand?
