When announcing that the LG V20
would be unveiled in San Francisco on September 6th
, LG stated that the phone would feature "the best video and audio experience." From the start, LG hinted that this device would be a multimedia beast. To that end, LG released a press release today telling us that the premium audio capabilities of the LG V20
is the result of a partnership between LG and B&O Play. The latter is the fastest-growing unit of Bang & Olufsen, and concentrates on portable audio.
LG and B&O Play worked together to give the LG V20 a sound described by the manufacturer as "natural and balanced." In the box with the phone will be a pair of B&O earphones, and the B&O logo will be one of the wallpaper choices for LG V20 owners.
"The collaboration with LG provides a wonderful opportunity to showcase B&O PLAY’s expertise in terms of audio technology, design excellence and user-centered philosophy. With the new LG V series smartphone, users will experience a new premium sound experience that they have never heard before."-Henrik Taudorf Lorensen, president, B&O PLAY
"I’m pleased about our close partnership with B&O PLAY which started earlier this year with Hi-Fi Plus with B&O PLAY and continues today with the V20. A growing number of consumers expect a better audio experience from their smartphones than what has been available in the past and I’m confident that the V20 delivers on these expectations."-Juno Cho, president, LG Electronics and Mobile Communications Company
We already know that the LG V20 will be the first smartphone to employ a 32-bit Quad DAC audio chip
. This component turns digital files into the sound that LG V20 owners will be hearing. According to LG, the chip "delivers a crisp and clear sound that comes closest to a live performance" with a 50% reduction in ambient noise.
