LG Max mid-ranger unveiled in India, priced at $172 USD
The LG Max has been unveiled in India, priced at the equivalent of $172 USD. As we told you the other day, in other markets the phone is being called the LG Bello II, or the LG Prime II. The 5-inch screen features a 480 x 854 FWVGA resolution. That works out to a 196ppi pixel density. A quad-core 1.3GHz CPU is under the hood. 1GB of RAM is inside along with 8GB of expandable storage.

An 8MP camera is on the back, and a 5MP selfie-centric snapper is found on the front of the phone. The latter supports Gesture Shot, which snaps a selfie when you open and close your palm in front of the camera. With Selfie Flash, the phone's display is employed as a soft flash "for portraits that are more subtle and refined." Android 5.1.1 is installed out of the box, and a 2540 mAh batter keeps the motor running.

The handset supports 3G connectivity, and is available in White, Gold and Titan.

Thanks for the tip!

The Indian market has enough handsets in the range of $120-$150 which have an HD screen along with other specs like quad core, 1gb ram 8mp back cam etc. So I still dont get how LG is still sticking to 480p displays at $172..

480x854 is a joke in 2015.

And you call a phone with a FWVGA screen, 1gb of ram and 8gb of flash memory a mid-ranger? We're in 2015... that's just an entry level, and the price is ridiculous.

never, because most people know nothing about specs, they are lured with fashionable design and a catchy name ;)
