Important milestone reached as Opera Mini reaches 50 million monthly unique users
Opera is making headlines again as it continues to provide some concrete analysis on how they have a firm grasp in the mobile web browsing market. Opera Software announced today that the Opera Mini mobile browser reached a new milestone as it strolled pass by the 50 million unique monthly users mark last month. It specifically showcases how mobile phone users are seemingly adamant on using the application for their web surfing needs – its usage increased well over 150 percent when compared to the results found last year when approximately 20 million users were using it. According to Garnter, “mobile phones will overtake PCs as the most common Web access device worldwide” by 2013 – clearing the path and setting the the pace is Opera Mini with its continued growth. It already left its mark with AT&T by making it the default web browser on most feature  phones and will possibly continue to see usage when an expected iPhone app is rumored to be making an arrival.

Wow...impressive numbers. I will be looking forward to experimenting with the new Opera mini browser and seeing what the Opera browser experience will be like on the iPhone. I am very happy with Skyfire glad it is going to Android, but I think it would have done well on the iPhone as well. I actually dropped Opera for Skyfire, but if the new Opera is flash enabled then it will definitely be worth checking out.
