Huawei launches new earbuds and an OLED tablet that's actually pretty nice.

Aside from announcing the global availability of its latest flagship phones Pura 90s Pro and Pro Max today, Huawei is also expanding its device roster with a new pair of earbuds and a new tablet as well.
Huawei FreeClip 2 S Signature Edition are official
The new FreeClip 2 S Signature Edition are the company's new open-ear earbuds, which clip to the back of your ear and allow you to enjoy audio content while not completely detaching yourself from the ambient sound.
From a hardware standpoint, these are identical to the regular FreeClip 2 buds but deliver a new more posh design language and are available in Deepsea Blue and Space Silver colors. Both of these colors feature a shiny metalic finish that elevates them from regular earbuds to a fashionable accessory.
The charging case has scored a useful improvement. The usable space inside has been greatly expanded, allowing you to store any clip-on accessories for the earbuds, like those from French maison Les Néréides that will launch along with the earbuds.
Onto the audio front, the earbuds come with a dual-diaphragm driver that excels in both high and low frequencies, ensuring that you can hear crystal clear vocals and enjoyable bass, Huawei says.
The earbuds also arrive with a third-gen audio chip and NPU AI processor, which is used to intelligently detect your preferred volume level, audio normalization, and other voice adjustments. The FreeClip 2 S are interchangeable, meaning you can wear either bud in either ear; there are no dedicated left and right ones.
Completing the specs sheet is the IP57 water- and dust-resistance, providing more than decent protection against rain, sweat, and even light splashes. Each of these will reportedly last 9 hours on a single charge, and the charging case can provide a total of 38 hours of audio playback.
And the most striking feature: each bud weighs just 5.1 grams, which is next to nothing!
The FreeClip 2 S Signature Edition will be available for €229.
Huawei MatePad Air 2026 breaks cover
Huawei's newest tablet is a substantial refresh of last year's MatePad Air, with the biggest improvement being the display.
No longer does it have a measly IPS LCD screen, the 12-inch tablet now boasts the same PaperMatte tech as the pricier and more premium Huawei MatePad Pro, meaning it features a matte coating that eliminates reflections and glare. It also covers the DCI-P3 color gamut, which means colors will be rich and vivid. The peak brightness will be the more than decent 1,200 nits.
The dimensions and base specs are otherwise identical to last year's MatePad Air: 12-inch size, a 144 Hz peak refresh rate, and a resolution of 2800 by 1840 pixels. A rather decent combination of metrics, but the biggest upgrade is undoubtedly the switch to OLED.
Sure, if you'd rather just get a regular OLED tablet without the PaperMatte tech, Huawei will let you buy one of these at a slightly lower price as well, which is great. Not everybody needs a glare-free screen, no matter how good these are.
Other specs of the tablet include a massive 10,100 mAh battery and very fast 66W wired charging, which would ensure that the battery gets topped up rather quickly. Huawei says the battery should last an 8-hour online meeting or a 10-hour video playback marathon.
Powering the new MatePad Air is the HiSilicon Kirin T93C chip, which allows for many AI features on the software front. The slate is also just 5.3 mm thin and has even thinner bezels than before. The device will be available in a slew of pastel colors, like Airy Blue, Sakura Pink, and White, each with a pearlescent sheen for a more premium feel.
Price and release date
Huawei will launch the new MatePad Air on August 1. The tablet will be available with either a keyboard, a stylus, or both depending on the version you go for; here are the prices and available combos:
