Huawei Mate 20 & Mate 20 Pro cases confirm no 3.5mm headphone jack

Starting off on the rear, both smartphones will boast the same overall design that consists primarily of a square-shaped camera island in the middle that is home to a triple-sensor layout and a dual-tone LED flash. However, the biggest differentiating factor is the rear fingerprint reader. After all, the cheaper Mate 20 will sport a circular scanner just below the rear camera setup. But when it comes to the Mate 20 Pro, the fingerprint sensor will be integrated into the display.

Elsewhere on the design front, the cases reveal that both smartphones will include a power button and a volume rocker on the right side of the frame. Additionally, towards the top, it looks as though a microphone and an IR blaster has been placed on the two smartphones. When it comes to the bottom, though, not everything is the same. While both offerings seemingly include a USB Type-C port in the middle and a microphone towards the left, the regular Mate 20 also appears to include a bottom-firing speaker on the right. The Mate 20 Pro, on the other hand, doesn’t. Instead, it appears to boast a third microphone which hints at advanced sound recording. Consequently, this also suggests that the in-ear speaker will double as the smartphone’s regular speaker.

As reported multiple times before, the Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will both go official on October 16 in London. Sales should then commence roughly two weeks later. Separately, it’s worth noting that an ultra-premium Mate 20 Porsche Design may also join Huawei’s main duo at the event.
