Harman Kardon announces the exquisite Allure Portable smart speaker with Alexa

Harman Kardon, a well-known company that dabbles in the audio and visual technology, has just announced yet another premium product, a follow-up to the Allure smart speaker that was announced at IFA 2017, only this one is portable.

The new Harman Kardon Allure Portable will be available for purchase starting this spring for $199, $50 cheaper than its regular brother. Customers will be able to get one via Amazon or Harman Kardon's online store.

It's powered by Alexa, which features more than 20,000 skills, but since Amazon is adding new ones every month, it's probably going to have a lot more by the end of the year.

In order to offer users a stunning sound experience, the Allure Portable features 20W 2x1.75 inch full-range drivers and 2 passive radiators. Obviously, the smart speaker is hands-free and controlled by voice commands, and comes with 2 built-in microphones along with advanced noise cancellation technology.

The exquisite Harman Kardon Allure Portable is made of premium materials and features a steel speaker grill, as well as a semi-transparent top cover. Also, Harman promises up to 10 hours of battery life with a single charge.

So the next thing that gonna take over the market would be Alexa? Too bad we can't try it at Asia market yet.

What's sad is that you can buy the Cortana-powered Harman Kardon Invoke which is a larger version of this for $100 when it goes on regular sales. I wish they would make an Alexa-powered Invoke instead of this.

the Invoke isn't exactly portable. it still needs an external power source to always stay connected to it. and it's shape always made it awkward to carry around between home and work. so not only are you carrying this largely phallic speaker with you, you still have to carry the AC adapter. if it wasn't for the AC adapter, i'd probably still have kept it anyway. but even then, that was hard to justify since i also have the Aura Studio 2.

A Rolls Royce only has four wheels?! That's not premium, at all! That's exactly the same as everybody else! \o/
