HTC offers 100 GB of free Google Drive storage space on 5 Android smartphones
HTC today announced that owners of select Android handsets are now eligible for 100 GB of free storage space on Google Drive. The handsets we’re talking about are the HTC One (M8) flagship, the HTC Desire 816, HTC Desire 610, HTC One Remix, and the relatively old HTC One max. As with HTC’s previous offering (which included 50 GB of free storage space for these devices), the new one is good for 2 years from the date you redeem it.

We’re surprised not to see the HTC One mini 2 on the list above - since the One Remix is basically a renamed One mini 2 for Verizon. Also, the One (E8) probably deserved to be there as well. Anyway, in case you already redeemed your free Google Drive storage space on your HTC handset prior to this new offer, it doesn’t look like you can upgrade to 100 GB. If you didn’t redeem it, you can do so after launching the Google Drive app that’s pre-loaded on your smartphone.

As you may know, Google offers 15 GB of free Drive storage space to all Android users, and asks $1.99 for 100 GB per month - so HTC theoretically enables you to save $47.76 in two years (assuming you have an eligible handset).

They might sell more phones if they marketed it as "100GB of Ultra Secure Porn Storage".

I'd rather have 32gb of porn storage for life. =\

I tried a friends m8 and I must admit htc did a nice job. Not my favorite design but it is nice. Smooth and responsive UI. They should try advertising more.

I have a htc one max. and I freaking love it! they got such good design and UI. make the whole UX really easy. I think they really spent a lot of time design and improve of user experience. but they really need to work on their advertisement if they want to sell more.

It seems those who've already redeemed their free storage space prior to this offer will get additional space. I own M8 and today I received a massage from google saying: "You activated an offer to receive free Google Drive storage from your HTC smartphone and we‘re pleased to inform you that we are increasing your free storage allotment to 100GB for the remainder of your offer term."

I've had mine previously activated and it automatically activated on my account. I have 115gb of storage according to my Google Drive account.

HTC honors those who redeemed the offer in the past. http://i57.tinypic.com/msylx1.jpg
