HTC offers 100 GB of free Google Drive storage space on 5 Android smartphones
HTC today announced that owners of select Android handsets are now eligible for 100 GB of free storage space on Google Drive. The handsets we’re talking about are the HTC One (M8) flagship, the HTC Desire 816, HTC Desire 610, HTC One Remix, and the relatively old HTC One max. As with HTC’s previous offering (which included 50 GB of free storage space for these devices), the new one is good for 2 years from the date you redeem it.
We’re surprised not to see the HTC One mini 2 on the list above - since the One Remix is basically a renamed One mini 2 for Verizon. Also, the One (E8) probably deserved to be there as well. Anyway, in case you already redeemed your free Google Drive storage space on your HTC handset prior to this new offer, it doesn’t look like you can upgrade to 100 GB. If you didn’t redeem it, you can do so after launching the Google Drive app that’s pre-loaded on your smartphone.
As you may know, Google offers 15 GB of free Drive storage space to all Android users, and asks $1.99 for 100 GB per month - so HTC theoretically enables you to save $47.76 in two years (assuming you have an eligible handset).
