HTC intros the Desire 626, a Snapdragon 410-powered Moto G competitor
HTC today announced the Desire 626, a new mid-range smartphone that was first spotted last month. The handset was officially unveiled in Taiwan, HTC's home country, where it's going to be sold for the equivalent of around $189.

Its price and features put the HTC Desire 626 in the same category as Motorola's Moto G - one of the most popular mid-range smartphones as of late. HTC's handset sports a 5-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixels, and is powered by a 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor. At the front, the 626 has a 5 MP camera and dual speakers, while a 13 MP camera can be found at the back. Other features include LTE connectivity, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of expandable internal memory, and a 2000 mAh battery. Like most high-end and mid-range smartphones introduced by HTC lately, the new Desire is compatible with DotView cases.

The Desire 626 also has a version that's powered by an octa-core MediaTek processor and should be released soon in China. We don't know if HTC intends to launch the new Desire in North America or Europe, but we'll let you know when we find out.
