HTC intros the Desire 626, a Snapdragon 410-powered Moto G competitor
HTC today announced the Desire 626, a new mid-range smartphone that was first spotted last month. The handset was officially unveiled in Taiwan, HTC's home country, where it's going to be sold for the equivalent of around $189.

Its price and features put the HTC Desire 626 in the same category as Motorola's Moto G - one of the most popular mid-range smartphones as of late. HTC's handset sports a 5-inch display with 720 x 1280 pixels, and is powered by a 64-bit quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor. At the front, the 626 has a 5 MP camera and dual speakers, while a 13 MP camera can be found at the back. Other features include LTE connectivity, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of expandable internal memory, and a 2000 mAh battery. Like most high-end and mid-range smartphones introduced by HTC lately, the new Desire is compatible with DotView cases.

The Desire 626 also has a version that's powered by an octa-core MediaTek processor and should be released soon in China. We don't know if HTC intends to launch the new Desire in North America or Europe, but we'll let you know when we find out.

Good job HTC, you finally made a reasonably priced midrange handset. Now only to release it in the US.

This is more low end than mid range in 2015 terms and pricing is still almost 2x the cheapest in China with similar specs.

Then go and play with your china toys. It is a reasonable price compared to Samsung or other rivals. Don't compare with Chinese phones.

Look at those bezels - this thing is huge! And still they managed to fit only 2000mAh battery.

Bezels aren't a huge deal for a mid range phone. I still have the original Droid Razr with hella bezel, and its still one of my favorite designed phones

They are huge for a 5" phone. No matter if its entry-, mid- or highend. Its nearly same as g3...

So is the iPhone 6, people seem to have no problem with that.

When the first leaks of the iPhone 6 came out, they said it would be fake, no way it could be that ugly, with those big bezels, antenna bands and protruding camera. They wished the iPhone 6 would come up with 2gb ram, notification led, tiny bezels, sapphire glas, stereo speakers, super/duper batterylife etc. etc. Even they won't get anything at all, they would still buy and be happy as long there is an Apple Logo on the back.

atleast 1.5gb ram should be included and battery is little bit less for an hd screen other than that its a good deal... btw the battery backup of moto g ist gen x1033 is simply great, music on loudspeaker is stunning and camera is also very gud

Okay specs for a midrange, but atleast larger than 2000mAh, and 1.5 GB RAM
