HTC U11 could soon be upgraded to Bluetooth 5.0 via software update

HTC's flagship should have been one of the first smartphones to feature Bluetooth 5.0. Unfortunately, for some reason, the Taiwanese company was unable to add the new technology into the HTC U11 at launch, as the smartphone still uses Bluetooth 4.2.

However, it looks like HTC has changed its mind and has decided to update the U11 to Bluetooth 5.0 in the not so distant future. According to FCC (Federal Communications Commission) filing, HTC plans to “enable Bluetooth 5.0 by software without any hardware change.”

HTC U11 will be the third smartphone to feature Bluetooth 5.0 after Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+, which were launched with the new technology back in April.

With Bluetooth 5.0, HTC U11 will have longer connectivity range, as well as higher transmission bandwidth and lower power usage. The upgrade will be made via software update, which should be marked by HTC in the changelog.

Sadly, it's unclear when exactly the new update will be released, but if you own the HTC U11, you can be sure your phone will make use of Bluetooth 5.0 if nothing wrong happens.

I would love to know what camera lag or slowness you are talking about ! i have the U11 and there is no such a thing as camera lag or software slowness on my end at all. It is all buttery smooth!

i compared it with the galaxy s8 in the store and omg the camera there is f**king perfect.. I might switch to the galaxy note 8 :) and plus the galaxy s8 males my phone look old because of all these huge bezels.. Even the side bezels are noticeable.. I dont see how the htc u11 would be better than the galazxy note 8.. Maybe just a more balanced phone with better performance but the note 8 will have better design bstter display better camera better features and also better settings and camera app.. And an s pen and hopefully if Samsung puts stereo speakers in the note 8 they might beat the ones on the u11.
