HTC One Max fingerprint sensor confirmed by WSJ, release date pegged for October 15
UPDATE: HTC has begun sending out invitations scheduled for different days at different places - the October 16th one is for Hong Kong, whereas the one for Taipei is for October 18th 6pm, whereas the WSJ sources below peg an October 15th announcement, likely in the US, and an ePrice invitation confirms the 15th as a global release date. The text of the invitation states: "One finger opens up a big view. You are invited to immerse in the sound with us," hinting at the fingerprint unlock sensor on the back and the BoomSound speakers at the front.
There has been tremendous buzz on that front already, while leaked One Max pictures kept pouring with a mysterious square region underneath the rear camera that speculation pegged to be a fingerprint scanner, similar to the Apple iPhone 5s' new Touch ID technology. We even had an alleged tester of the One Max confirm he'd been using the fingerprint sensor for a few days already, and found it to be very accurate.
Not only that, but the Wall Street Journal piece also confirms the launch date to be October 15th, which is just a week from now, and reiterates that we will have the UltraPixel camera and BlinkFeed social news aggregator present on the One Max.
The phablet wars have already heated up to the point of boiling this year, and we are really interested if LG will throw a curve ball - literally - with a 6" G Flex bendable display phablet next month.
