Go on a crazy ride with Santa in Samsung's latest Gear VR experience

“The Night Before” is Samsung’s latest, holiday-themed VR experience. It was initially made available earlier this month in 4D VR in select locations, but you can now experience it in the comfort of your home in the form of a 360-degree YouTube video.

“The Night Before” takes you on a magical ride with Santa, as he leaves his workshop at the North Pole and flies around the world (and beyond) to deliver presents to all the good children. Worry not, though! You won’t be carefully going through an infinite list of names or helping Santa out of narrow chimneys. Instead, strapped into the sidecar of Santa’s sleigh, you will be warping around through worm holes, visiting outer space, and flying through a Christmas eve fireworks display above Downtown Manhattan.

Samsung’s new VR experience is a little over 3 minutes long, and you can watch the whole thing on YouTube even if you don’t own a Gear VR headset. The only downside is that the footage is quite distorted when viewed with the naked eye.

“The Night Before” is a short but sweet ride with cool special effects that you should definitely check out if you own a Gear VR. If you want the full “4D” experience, you can ride with Santa in Samsung VR booths at The Grove in Los Angeles and Herald Square Park in New York.
