Gionee S Plus unveiled in India with 5.5-inch display, octa-core CPU and Type-C USB port
The Gionee S Plus is now official, after being introduced this morning by Gionee India. It features a Gorilla Glass 3 protected 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display, with a resolution of 720 x 1280 (HD). Driving the phablet is the MediaTek MT6753 SoC, which carries an octa-core 1.3GHz CPU along with the Mali-T720 GPU. 3GB of RAM is inside, along with 16GB of native storage. Those seeking additional memory can opt to use the 128GB capacity microSD slot that is on board.

A 13MP camera is on the back of the Gionee S Plus, with a front-facing 5MP camera for selfies and video chats. The 3150mAh battery that powers the phone offers fast charging features, and Android 5.1 is pre-installed with Amigo UI 3.1 running on top. The unit supports dual SIM cards, and comes with 4G LTE connectivity. The Gionee S Plus is the manufacturer's first handset to be equipped with a Type-C USB port. A Face Unlock feature will open your phone in under a second.

The Gionee S Plus will be available this week, priced at the equivalent of $259 USD. The device will be offered in Dark Blue, Golden and White.

Thanks for the tip!
