Gingerbread software update is being rolled out to Sprint's Samsung Galaxy Tab
Chiming in right on schedule, Sprint customers who happen to own the carrier's Samsung Galaxy Tab should be waking up to something special because the Gingerbread software update for the tablet is now available.

Keeping its promise of delivering the update by today, July 5th, the over-the-air update is available for download – though, Sprint is pushing it out in waves throughout the course of the week. However, if you’re simply impatient and want to get right into Gingerbread with your Sprint branded Samsung Galaxy Tab, you can manually check for it under the Software Update section in the Android Settings menu. Indeed, the Gingerbread update brings forth some significant changes and improvements to better the overall tablet experience.

As much as we’re happy to hear about this, we’re still curious to know if other carrier versions of the tablet will be making the jump to Gingerbread as well in the near future – but in the meantime, Sprint owners can rejoice.

And when did they say that the Galaxy S update should be coming out? I feel sorry for those people who have them because of how sucky Samsung is being at updates. I got the Evo Shift and it already had 2.2 when I got it and the Epic didn't, and now the Evo Shift has 2.3 and the Epic probably won't get it until well after ICS is out and on some devices.

Thanks for the heads up! I've been checking my Tab all morning to see if the upgrade has automatically downloaded, but it hasn't come through yet. Doing a manual check now and keeping my fingers crossed.

This should hopefully be the last of Samsungs failure to update its original line of Galaxy devices. Now we just hope to expect its 2nd line of Galaxy devices will get proper updates and ON TIME.

My home and search keys aren't working on mine since the upgrade. Anyone have suggestions? Thank you!

I did the upgrade on my tablet and it reboots over and over. I went to all the Sprint repair centers in the local area and called samsung. No one could fix the issue. I had to mail my tablet to samsung for repair. I am now playing the waiting game!
