Gift cards now available with update to Square Wallet

Gift cards now available with update to Square Wallet
Square founder Jack Dorsey just sent out a tweet using Twitter, which he also founded, to inform the public about Square Gift Cards. The cards are available for the Square Wallet app (available for iOS and Android), Passbook (iOS 6 only) or on paper. Obviously, the timing of this update fits right in with the holiday shopping season.

Updating its Square Wallet app to version 2.5 means nothing if merchants can't accept the new cards. So Square has also brought its Square Register up to version 2.5. This is the merchant's app that will now allow them to ring up gift cards from Square Wallet, Passbook and accept QR codes.

The updates make things easier for both shoppers and stores which is definitely needed during this time of the year. The Square Wallet app is a free download from both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
