Exynos powered variant of Samsung Galaxy A8 now available in India
Priced at the equivalent of $508 USD, the Samsung Galaxy A8 is now on sale in India. That is a pretty hefty price tag for the region, so what exactly are consumers in India getting for their money? The Galaxy A8 is equipped with a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen that carries a 1080 x 1920 resolution. That works out to a pixel density of 386ppi. Under the hood is the Exynos 5430 SoC. The big LITTLE octa-core CPU brings 4 cores of 1.8GHz Cortex-A15 and 4 cores of 1.3GHz Cortex-A7. Handling graphics is the Mali-T628 MP6 GPU. 2GB of RAM is inside, along with 32GB of expandable storage.

The thinnest phone produced by Samsung to date at 5.9mm, the Galaxy A8 features a 16MP rear-facing camera with an aperture of f/1.9. That will allow users to snap quality pictures even under less than optimal lighting conditions. The 5MP shooter in front can snap selfies and handle video chats using a 120 degree wide-angle lens. A 3050mAh battery keeps the generator humming, and Android 5.1 is pre-installed.

Besides having a thin footprint, the Galaxy A8 sports very thin side bezels. And we would be remiss if we didn't point out that the version of the phone that previously launched in Asia last month was a different variant. That model was powered by the Snapdragon 615 chipset, with an octa-core 1.5GHz CPU and the Adreno 405 GPU.

The phone is available in black, white and gold and supports 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS connectivity. If you're an Airtel customer, the carrier will double your data for free with the purchase of this handset.

Thanks for the tip!
