Check out how fast the rear camera launches on a Nokia Lumia 1520 following the Lumia Denim update
The Lumia Denim update brings some important improvements to the camera function on certain Nokia Lumia models. Thanks to the silicon under the hood on the Nokia Lumia 930, Nokia Lumia Icon and the Nokia Lumia 1520, those three handsets launch their respective cameras extremely fast after the installation of Lumia Denim. How fast? Check out the pair of videos below.

Video one shows the updated Lumia 1520 phablet opening its camera. Measure how fast the application opens versus how long it takes a Nokia Lumia 930 running Lumia Cyan to do the same thing. The second video shows the Denim powered Lumia 1520 taking on the Nokia Lumia 1020, with the latter powered by Lumia Cyan.

The videos certainly confirm that users of the three affected Lumia models will be able to open the camera on their phone much faster than they could before Lumia Denim was installed. Additionally, those sporting one of the three handsets will be able to take picture after picture, waiting just milli-seconds between shots. The Rich Capture feature will bring HDR to the Lumia Icon, Lumia 930 and Lumia 1520. Moment Capture allows those three phones to record video in 4K with a long press of the shutter. Individual pictures, taken in 8.3MP, can be saved.

If you want to see how much faster launching the camera will be on those three Nokia Lumia handsets following the Lumia Denim update, check out the video slideshow below.

Yes, plus all the original WP7 phones, as the physical camera button was a requirement.

Aaaaaaahhh I want Denim on my 1020. The camera launch speed (if you want the full PureView experience) is the only real complaint I have, and while it's faster than uncasing a DSLR, taking off the lens cap, and powering it on, it's still a minor frustration when the other camera apps on the phone and my 925 launch and shoot so much faster (for now).

I seem to recall the 1020 not benefitting from Denim in regards to camera speed; it's to do with the processor...

That processor is so old and so slow and im,possible to handle the 41mp that no update will make it faster. Its a big hardware issue that cant be solved with software updates

Faster would be nice, but for 3 months now i have yet to be in a position where speed of bringing up the camera mattered at all. And any time it may have, friends devices took horrible shots that my shot was the one used anyways. Still much faster and easier than lugging around a DSLR daily, hourly.

You should compare lumia 1520 vs lumia 1520!

My Nokia 808 PureView is on par with Lumia 1520 with denim in term of camera launch speed.

I think it's not to compare with other phones since the camera on Denim launches just at about the same speed with other devices not on WP, like my Note 3 and the 1st gen iPad mini I have right now. Comparing to older software on WP, this is very impressive.
