Buying a new phone? 7 good reasons to wait on the Galaxy Note 7

Buying a new phone? 7 good reasons to wait on the Galaxy Note 7
Given the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge rampant sales success, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated handsets for the second half of the year. Samsung is reportedly planning to go the S7 edge route, and release the Note 7 with a display that is slightly curved to the sides only, nothing with a flat screen, which will make the Note 7 narrower, and thus eventually more comfortable to hold.

As for the under-the-hood improvements, we don't expect much change from the S7/edge duo, except maybe 6 GB of RAM, or a slightly overclocked chipset in the purported Snapdragon 821 version, as well as a larger battery to back them all up. The venerable S Pen should also be taught some new tricks, but it's the combination of all these niceties and a few standout features that could really prime the Note 7 as a blockbuster handset.

Thus, if you are mulling a new phone purchase, it might be advisable to hit the pause button, and wait until August 2 when the phone will be announced. What would be the eventual reasons for relaxing your finger from the trigger? Check them out below.

now using edge 6, cant decide wait for note 7 or just get edge 7, main thing is battery life for me.

I'll pass. Samsung needs to get rid of that curve gimmick.

Just like Multi Window and Stylus. He will praise the edge screen when Apple does it.

I don't really think the "Blue coral color" really belongs there! It's a tech site isn't it?

Number 1 waterproofing, 2 curve for aesthetics, 7 gorilla glass are truely worthy reasons to wait. But usb c? Coral blue? S-pen ux? Lol.. 5 is debatable though. Most people where I stay would never buy a samsung above a certain amount no matter what. Samsung phones have a way of getting old in a short time. Wether the phone becomes crazy laggy, or the software starts looking too outdated and unresponsive or the general spec allure of the phone starts to get redundant over time for some reason. Don't know why tho. I've used 2 galaxy phones and have people who've used them around me and all have thesame problems even with the gs6

Its the reason why even when the galaxy phones are generally better than the iphones, the iphones seem to hold their value better. The iphone always seem to be pretty consistent at what they do even if it does offer far less. (Depending on who you ask) For instance, an iphone 5s is just a hair less expensive than the galaxy s6.

Continuing the trend ehh! Bash Touchwiz, claim Sammy phones get slow as you use them, get trolled, this is getting boring.

Neither my Note 4 nor Note 5 got slow, laggy or unresponsive over time. The Note 5 remains the single best large phone available. My S3 never got slow or laggy either, but since I was flashing new custom roms every week or so, it never had a chance to.

My Exynos S5 never lags or freezes (except in new and very graphics intensive games, and badly coded ones, but again that's just low fps)!

Your talking like you've own every Samsung phones that existed, or talked to the millions off people who owns Samsung? If what you say was true, then Samsung would have lost many costumers years ago and not be number one in market share, like really why would you upgrade if you experience all off what you just said?

Probably not, since GG5 hasn't been released yet.

I feel as though I should know this but, when you switch devices(s6 active to Note 7) If you use smart switch everything including games will be saved or reloaded with the appropriate account, G+ or FB. Correct?

Yes. Any account with a password still needs to be logged into and any games/apps with data saved must be backed up, as you said, with Google, Facebook, or other account. It does Wi-Fi, contacts, wallpapers, apps, music, photos, videos, notes, voice memos, documents. I may have left something out, I don't have it in front of me.

I won't ever waste my money buying those so called latest or whatever gimmicky phones these manufacturers bring to the market. What are essential things or services these so called latest and dated phones can give me that my more than 2-year-old LG G3 can't? LOL!! For bragging maybe? No! I am not like that. To be in with the latest? A big no!!! LOL! Just a waste of money. You are just making these manufacturers rich by falling in to their baits.

You're free to buy or not but whatever you wish. So are the rest of us.

22. willard12 unregistered

There are people with 7 year old flip phones that think their device can call and text just as good as your LG G3 and gives them all their essentials. If waterproofing, USB type c, s pen, gorilla glass 5, fast wireless charging aren't things that interest you, Phonearena probably isn't the web site for you. What is and isn't a waste of money is relative to the size of your bank account.

Three words - The Moto Z. A Projector, True always-on display, fingerprint scanner, Moto voice, Moto assist, and to crown it all, The Moto Mods!!! Although to be sincere, what you said is true. Smart phones in general has peaked and have become stale tbh. All phones are just thesame now, hence why the Moto Z is really special. With those Mods, you just know anything is possible. Its the most innovative phone since the original iphone. the rest are just like old wine in a new bottle.

All phones are not the same. You sound just as foolish as the ex-Verizon dude in the Sprint. Verizons' network is still better than Sprints' & all smartphones have something that the other one doesn't. The Moto Z's not the most innovative phone since the iPhone. Just say that it's special to YOU, like the Note 7 is special to those of us who want it. And you're really trippin with that old wine in a new bottle comment.

But they really are the same, each and every one of them...
