Apple just introduced another price hike ahead of the iPhone 18 Pro’s launch

The Apple TV subscription got its fourth price hike in four years.

Chances are that the iPhone 18 Pro will be pricier than the iPhone 17 Pro, and there’s less of a reason to believe the increase will be subtle. After raising the prices of many of its hardware products and some of its subscriptions, Apple announced it has another price hike coming.

The Apple TV subscription is getting another price hike

Following the Apple Music price change in July, Apple today announced it’ll start charging more for its Apple TV subscription as well. The hike will put the  price of the streaming service from $12.99 per month to $14.99, according to a Variety report.

The annual subscription is also getting more expensive, with the price going from $99 to $119. The increase is effective immediately, and current subscribers will get a notification for the new prices ahead of their next bill.

Apple One is more expensive, too

Apple also bumped the price of the individual Apple One subscription, which includes not only Apple TV, but also the company’s other subscription services. Its price is growing from $19.95 per month to $21.95.

This follows the price hike of the other Apple One plans in July. The price then went from $25.99 to $27.95 for the Family plan and from $37.95 to $39.95 for the Premier plan.

Today’s increases will affect users in the US, Mexico, Brazil, and Chile.

Unsurprisingly, users on Reddit weren’t happy with the change, despite many of them pointing out the high quality of many of Apple’s TV shows. What isn’t as appreciated are the new live sports programs added to the service, which are taking the blame for the price hikes.

Is this an annual event now?

This price increase comes a year after Apple’s last hike in August 2025 and on the heels of the premiere of the fourth season of one of its most popular shows, Ted Lasso. The company is also airing more live sports, including F1, MLB, and Major League Soccer.

Peacock, YouTube Premium, and Netflix are only some of the other streaming services that raised their prices in recent months. If this turns into an annual event, chances are at least some users will decide against continuing their subscriptions.

Enter the rotation

I am already rotating my subscriptions based on the shows and movies I want to watch at the moment, but Apple TV is still a permanent subscription. I like most of its shows, but if the hikes continue, it won’t be long before it also enters the rotation.
