Apple iPhone 6 case mold confirms certain design cues for the next-gen model
A picture of a black mold, believed to be used to produce prototypes of Apple iPhone 6 cases, was posted on a Chinese Apple forum. From there, it was spotted by a French site. Based on the features of the mold, the Apple iPhone 6 will take its design cues from the Apple iPad Air and the Apple iPad mini with Retina display.

With rounded corners, a very thin footprint, and pill-shaped volume controls, there could actually be some legitimacy to the rumor that the next iPhone iteration will be known as the Apple iPhone Air. The device would be just 6.1mm thick, compared to the 7.6mm thickness of the Apple iPhone 5s. What is interesting is the protruding camera on the mold. You might recall that such a protruding lens was spotted on pictures taken of the iPhone 6, allegedly by a Foxconn insider.

Despite all of these connections, there is always the very strong possibility that this is a fake. We urge you to be cynical and take this story with the appropriate grain of salt.

Completely bland and uncompelling design. As you mention, just like the iPads. Could be saved by having the world's best screen, but other than that, meh.

lets hope this is fake....the bottom and upper bezels are too big....most of the leaks last year were spot on.....waiting for leaks directly from Foxconn factory or leaked retail package or demo unit or leaked advertisement.....

Agreed, but so many leaks have been similar that the likelyhood is this is what we're getting. I'm not a fan of the massive bezels either but Apple won't give up the giant home button now that it's used as a fingerpint scanner. And thanks to their symmetrical design philosophy that means the upper bezel needs to be equally massive. Irks me. I've been along time iPhone user, and an occasional user of Android, but this isn't exactly what I wanted from a larger iPhone and it's likely to be ridiculusly expensive... But I also don't want to walk away from the ecosystem. Tough choices ahead :(

When this thing sells off-contract for $1000+, people will finally realize that Apple has been ripping them off and that Android phones have been much better value-for-money all along. Apple can't possibly not be selling this for more $$$$ than the 5S, which is already as expensive as flagships from most Android companies...

I don't understand the hate. I love the design of Iphones and IOS is very nice. This coming from a Moto X user who really likes Android. My Iphone 4 was awesome when I had it a couple of years ago.

I've always liked iphone and ios design(except ios 7). I hate the fact that it is so restricted and has less features even though apple is more than capable to put them and restrictions do nothing but irritate.

Agree with you. But ip4 was the last one from apple. I realized it is "to much supported" by my. And I moved to large screens and custom system (android). Choice of my own. And I will never ne back to ios.

The design and feel is great and all, but it just can't justify the price. iPhone prices are always about the same price or more than flagships from Samsung, LG, HTC, etc. You just can't compare those two classes of phones, as the iPhone is inferior in almost every way.

Nothing but 3D printing based off the schematics leaked a few weeks ago.

Sounds more like it. Maybe it's just some guy who just thought, 'hey, maybe the iphone will look more like an ipad,' makes up a shrunken model of an ipad and runs it through a 3D printer and BAM. You get this. At least it gets the hype train going.

I think this is most likely fake. Let's not forget their is a business for people to take these molds and sell them off to case makers wanting to get the jump on competition.

The 64GB version will still sell >$1000 off contract. So, Meh.

I'm glad Apple is finally getting serious about screen sizes. It's good to see another serious competitor. Just like when I saw the Lumia 930, a 5" 1080p Windows Phone? That's what we've been waiting for! Microsofts Windows Phone to finally gain a big boys phone. Same for Apple, glad to see you guys at the grownups table. This is going to be a great year for smartphone buyers: HTC M8, GS5, Xperia Z2, Lumia 930, Find 7a, OnePlus One, G3, iPhone 6. Great year with great hardware!

I can't judge on something that looks vague but 'same design as an ipad?' for real? idk.
