Apple posts record-breaking $1.22 billion App Store holiday revenue
After lowering the revenue guidance citing “fewer iPhone upgrades” and China struggles, Apple's stock declined by 10% earlier today. But, as the saying goes, it's not over until the fat lady sings. Apple has just announced record-breaking $1.2 billion App Store 2018 holiday revenue and a new single-day record on New Year's Day 2019 alone.

Apple reported that customers worldwide have spent more than $1.22 billion on App Store between Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. Also, App Store customers spent over $322 million on New Year's Day 2019 alone, setting a new single-day record for the U.S. company.

Apparently, gaming and self-care were the most popular categories of app downloads and subscriptions during the holidays. For example, multiplayer games like Fortnite and PUBG were among the top downloaded games over the holidays, along with Brawl Stars, Asphalt 9 and Monster Strike.

Apps from the Productivity, Health & Fitness and Education categories such as 1Password, Sweat and Luminosity are kicking off 2019 with a bang as well.

Last but not least, Apple services set new all-time records in multiple categories, including the App Store, Apple Music, Cloud Services, Apple Pay and the App Store’s search ad business.
