Press Release says Android 9 Pie is available for the OnePlus 6, but no one can seem to find it (UPDATE)
A press release disseminated in Germany today by the PR firm employed by OnePlus says that the final version of Android 9 Pie is finally being made available to the OnePlus 6. An open beta version of the latest Android build was first offered earlier this month for the phone, but the release makes it clear that the real thing is finally here. In fact, the press release specifically mentions that the update contains gesture navigation, gaming mode 3.0 and a customizable Do Not Disturb feature.

UPDATE:OnePlus has taken to the internet to publish information about the Android 9 Pie update for the OnePlus 6. The rollout will be done in stages with the distribution of Android 9 picking up speed after OnePlus makes sure (via customer feedback) that there are no lingering issues with the software. So only a limited number of OnePlus 6 owners will actually see the update land on their phones today.

In addition, OnePlus is now naming OxygenOS updates to correspond with the version of Android that they contain. For example, today's update is called OxygenOS 9.0.

While this all sounds good in theory, it appears that the update has yet to reach any OnePlus 6 users. The information in the release didn't mention which countries would be receiving the OTA update first, but considering that the presser came out of Germany, OnePlus could be pushing out plates of Pie on a regional basis.

Currently, the only Android phones running Android 9 are the Pixel models and the Essential Phone. Once this issue is resolved, we will be able to add the OnePlus 6 to that short list. The manufacturer has also promised to update the OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 5, OnePlus 3T, and OnePlus 3 with the latest Android build.
