- 7.9-inch IPS 1024 x 768 pixel screen

1. FlushGordon unregistered's a 1024 x 768....please, can't you cost cut without skimping the resolution?

Not really. The display is one of the most expensive parts in a tablet, and to make it a high resolution AND give it a GPU to handle that resolution wouldn't be cost efficient.

The cheapest 720p ips tablet + 1 gig ram with 4 gig storage I believe is an Ainol model which costs $ is VERY doable, its just that major manufacturers like Acer refuse to sacrifice their profit margins.

Yes, but does that $99 tablet have a quad core processor with PowerVR SGX544? What about the cameras? How big is the display, I assume 7 inches, which is nearly a full inch smaller than this one. This tablet also has 4 times the on board storage. This tablet is also much more likely to be supported longer. There are so many variables that justify the additional cost of tablets in this range.

That $109 Ainol tablet has a: -Quad Core Cortex A9 1.5 Ghz Processor & a 3D GPU, 7" HD IPS Display with 1280 x 800 Res. & 16 M. Colors, 1GB DDR3 Ram, 16 GB Storage, Dual 2.0 mp Cameras, 4.1 JB OS, and a more compact bezel design, that price it blows the Acer away! For a new product, the Acer is using old chinese, no-name tech. I own a Acer laptop, and like there products, but this tablet is a poor 2008 design with crappy specs, they can do a lot better...even at a low price point. Acer should show some balls and try and make a better product, not play Apple's follow the leader game.

I'm looking to buy a 8" tablet, but this one is not on the list! UIgly Tablet!!! Huge bezels, outdated LOW res screen from the 1990's, don't need a rear camera cause I'm never going to use it (the 12mp camera on my phone is there for a reason), s**tty low res front facing camera, cheap Mediatek processor, no mention of battery times??? Man this tablet doesn't have a lot going for it! Even the price is not a drawing point. Wish that Nexus made a 8" tablet, cause I'm never going to buy a Rotten Apple product.
